Horfield Methodist Church is Part of the 8ristol and Soirth GI0￿$te¥shIfe arcuil which iKludes 33 churche5 across
both local authority areas led by a Superintendent Minister. This circuit is one of nine in the Bristol Methodist
Distrlct, whlch also covers rr￿t of Gloucestershire and parts of bjth Wiltshlre and SomerseL

Bishopston, so about seventy percent of our acts of worshtp are led lry one of his ordained colleagues or by a
Methodist Local {lay) Preacher or church leadets who work as a team to provlde services with a partlcular fr)cus and
includin8 guest speakers from charities Suppo￿ We acknowled8e the a)ntribution that each of them makes to
our CO￿ activity of Christian worship.

Regular worship activities corrtinue with Sunday momin8 servKes. The service from the Horfield site is also available
onllne via Z¢y)m. Junior Church children have their own actNities after a short time of famlty worshlp. A young
peoples, group Is offered, but the tsktrup is limited, although the group with its leaders enjoyed participating in the
Methodist Church's national 3Generate. a ￿￿ekeThd of fun and worship, ￿[d at Birniin8ham's NEC. A number of Io(31
charities and organisatiOn5 have been invited to Share their VI￿rk with u& Averdge attendan￿ at seThices is 51 at
Horfield and 9 at Blshopston. A number ol study/disCUssion 8roups been held throughout the year. and have
been well supported. as we seek to de¥tlop our Christian undetstsndiryd aThJ outbok Bap* weddlry and
funeTa15 have been olebrdted, as the need arise
The Generdl Church Meetin8 in April provided a I￿t of prlorlties from the Mission Actlon Plan to gulde the Leadership
Team. From this. the leadership team has agreed the plan and will look at a specific action from the plan at each of
its meetings and review the progress bel￿8 rnade by the group re4￿nSIble. We have improved Dur websites and
work is on80in8 to enhance our social medla presence.

aciivities there are limitations as to what can be achieNEd with the volunteer-POl4Pf available. The￿ a￿ fewer
people willing to tske on roleslresponslbilltles wlthin the church and those who already do a￿ frjlly committed. We
completed a review of all working 8roups and committees and streamlined these and reduced tlme
commitments from our volunteer base. The church is aware of the need to succession pkn for key roles. This remains
a challenge. not just locally but across the Methodist Church of Great Britain as a whole, we are grateful to all
those who ta￿ up any respOn￿bIlities.
We held a successful'meet and Greet, moming in the summer which was *tkomed by building users. The intentlon
WB5 to encourage interactions between groups. users of both churth buildiw but was also a chance for us to

about OUT effort5 on Eco Indusi¥e Church, Wirter Ni8ht Shelter 3rKI Christians at Bristol Prlde.
Flnances are ￿•sOn4bty healty, but * malntaln c105e control of our expendlture and use of resources. The
medium to long tsmi future of retaini￿ both sites will inevitsbty come under review in the next few ￿ar5. The
upkeep of ageing buiklin8S1 on both siies, after mary years of just bas•c repairs has conbnued, and ts likety to
continue to brlng challenglng declsions about prioriuslng expendItu￿. Items of note were some Thfjrk which came to
light duri￿ the fire risk assessment at one site and ￿p1a￿Ment of deteritiratin8 and disintegrating Stage curtains at
the other site. Major expenditure on the fn)nt paths arKI the o)urtyard at the Horfield site YKas carr￿1 out In the

Summer. We fortunate to receive grants towards this work a5 Thyll as donations from ffleMbe￿ individua
fvnd rai%n8 at the Bristol Iok and church fund raising activi￿ Fintshlr¥ off touches are stlll to tske place.
The thurth contioues to be eco￿lca1ty awa￿. It runs regular activitie5 to pronK)te care of the erniironment and the
climate crisis. and arrdrges litterpick everrts tn the streets around one of the church buildir8s. Our young people h
constructed a number of bug hotels and planted sorne I)e￿frIendlY herb seeds which can 80 into the new
planters In the Couftyard. We were grJtefvl to be awarded a Brant to Instsll a gnart thenn05tat for the boilers at the
laryer site.
The congreEatlon Is very diverse and we are proud of offering a wami and inclusi¥e welcorne to all visitors. We are
regularly seeing rth people attendin8 which is testsment to the welcome and reflerts the ideals of the InclusNe
Church movement.
