The advancement of Sanatan Dharma and the Hindu way of life (religion) in the UK for the benefit of the public through the holding of public celebrations of religious festivals, prayer meetings, discourses, singing of bhajan and kirtans (Hindu prayers and hymns), classes and producing seminars and literature on Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism) to enlighten others about Sanatan Dharm – Hindu faith. Benefits to include, but not an exhaustive list: (i) Contributing towards a better society by promoting social cohesion, respect for all humanity and social capital (ii) Contributing to the participating public’s mental, spiritual, and physical well-being. (iii) Providing comfort to the bereaved. (iv) Carrying out, as a practical expression of religious beliefs, other activities – such as advancing religious education or relieving poverty (2). The advancement of Hindu culture and the arts in the UK for the benefit of the public through the preservation of historical traditions, including festivals, religious-folk dancing, recital of ancient Indian spiritual poetry and the practice and education of Indian classical music (3). The relief of poverty and improving child and animal welfare in the UK and abroad. (i) The prevention or relief of poverty and/or financial hardship anywhere in the world by providing or assisting in the provision of sustenance, shelter and any necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient (ii) The prevention or relief of poverty anywhere in the world for children by providing or assisting in the provision of education, sustenance, shelter, and any necessary support designed to enable children to be able to work and thereby generate a sustainable income for their future selves to be self-sufficient (iii) For the benefit of the public to help alleviate the suffering and/or cruelty towards animals in need of care and attention; in particular to provide sustenance to impoverished, elderly and abandoned cows (Hindu sacred animal) in India as well as other animals around the world. Also, to contribute towards the provision of other facilities for the reception, care and treatment of such animals The Main activities undertaken for the public benefit were: - The holding of cultural and religious events, in particular for Shivratri and Navratri - Singing of bhajans and Kirtans for the community - Provision of food services to vulnerable individuals, children, and families in the local community - The holding of religious and cultural workshops for children **Trustee Annual Report KSMY Seva Trust UK** 2 ## Achievements and performance The Main Achievements of the CIO in the period were: - The CIO promoted religious, cultural, and musical heritage for devotes across the UK during events by holding prayers and blessings (pooja) and children’s workshops. The CIO held two flagship events for Navratri and Shivratri, receiving a funding match from Microsoft for donations received for the Navratri event. - Feeding of the homeless in Charring Cross London via a monthly hot food service. Each service serving approx.100 of London’s most needy population. - Exceeding fundraising targets by raising over £28,000 to deliver its charitable aims. - The CIO provided a daily breakfast service in a School in East London for children and families living under the poverty line, this service supported an average of 35 children per day. ## **Financial review** The Reserves at the year-end totalled £25,638 and were in the current bank accounts. Reserves were maintained at their level as to ensure funds were readily available for expansion of charity works. Reserves are also maintained to fund working capital and to fund shortfalls in charitable income when income does not reach expected levels. ## **Further financial review details** The CIO relies on donations and offerings from its members and the public. It is recognised that donations and offerings can fluctuate from year to year. The trustees aim to ensure that the CIO has sufficient resources to continue its activities and meet its obligations to his end, it is considered prudent that sufficient liquid funds are maintained. **number**|1191894| I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the period ended 31 December 2022. **Responsibilities and** As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the **basis of report** accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I report in respect of my examination of the Trusts’ accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. **Independent** I have completed my examination.
