OBJECTIVES

We are a charitable organisations based in London, helping marginalized communities (women and girls) to gain access to available services to improve their general wellbeing which includes support for the poor and needy especially homeless people and women and children.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

The group is highly active in our local community which makes it possible for us to interact with people of varying nationalities and other organisations.

In 2024 to 2025 the group engaged with Southwark Council, Community Referral Pathway in the referral and distribution of Winter Fuel vouchers for those receiving Pension Credit. This initiative supported Southwark resident who are on low income and those on Pension to pay towards energy for their home.

Since 2015, the group sponsors a sister to go on the Hajj Pilgrimage (Macca) annually and continue to do so. The group also support members and contributes towards the cost of paying for the burial of close family members in the UK.

Also, Salaam Sisters continue to provide cooked food for various mosques in the Southeast London which it does for the last 10 days of Ramadan. The group has done so for nearly 17 years without any break.

Our generosity is not only limited to the minority and underprivileged with the society, but also extended to the less fortunate people in Sierra Leone in providing food for the local Masjids in Sierra Leone. Hunger is still one of the biggest and most solvable problems in the world however it is impossible to end hunger. We believe that our work depends on the support of our active members to support people in need.

We are also supporting the building of a local clinic in a village call Tombo in Sierra Leone. This was facilitated by partner sister group called the Dawah Sisters and Sisters That Feed. They assisted us in fulfilling our Islamic duties through providing food for the poor and needy, prisoners and orphans, in Sierra Leone.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

financial position is good currently and it is able to meets its expenditure, also the trustees see no uncertainties as members are all committed to the cause the charity stands for.

The principal source of funds remains voluntary contribution from its members. However the charity is planning to organize a fund-raising activity in the next financial year to help boast its finances.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Salaam Sisters is an association model Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by a Board of Trustees whose duties and obligations include to further the objectives of the charity while at the same time ensure that all the regulatory requirements are adhere to.

All Trustees are elected at Annual General Meetings and re-elected every two years. No trustee can be a trustee for more than nine years. Trustees are elected from the general membership of the charity and based on their skills, knowledge, and experience. At the election, each member of the charity shall cast a vote by a secret ballot on first past the post.
