## **SALAAM SISTERS TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT**

## **OBJECTIVES**
We are a charitable organisation based in London, helping marginalised communities (Women and girls) to gain access to available services to improve their general wellbeing which includes support for the poor and needy especially homeless people and women and children.
## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE**
The group is highly active in our local community which makes it possible for us to interact with people of varying nationalities and other organisations.
In 2023 to 2024 the group engaged with Southwark council, Community Referral Pathway in the referral and distribution of Southwark Cost of Living Fund. This initiative supported Southwark resident who are on low incomes and pay towards energy for their home.
In 2023 the group also engaged in the referral of women, based on initial assessment, who are referred to us by other sister groups for support in regards to ongoing physical and psychological issue relating to abuse.
Since 2015, the group sponsors a sister to go on the Hajj Pilgrimage (Mecca) annually and continues to do so.
Also, Salaam Sisters continue to provide cooked food for various mosques in the Southeast London which it does for the last 10 days of Ramadan. The group has done so for nearly 16 years without any break.
Our generosity is not only limited to the minority and underprivileged within our society, but also extended to our less fortunate people in Sierra Leone in providing food for our local Masjids in Sierra Leone. This was facilitated by partner sister group called the Dawah Sisters and Sisters that Feed. They assisted us in fulfilling our Islamic duties through providing food for the poor and needy, prisoners and patients at Cannaught hospital, in Sierra Leone.
## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**

The Charity’s financial position is good currently and it is able to meets its expenditure, also the trustees see no uncertainties as members are all committed to the cause the charity stands for.
The Charity’s principal source of funds remains voluntary contribution from its members, however the charity organised a fund-raising activity in this financial year which help boast its finances.
## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**
Salaam Sisters is an association model Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by a Board of Trustees whose duties and obligations include to further the objectives of the charity while at the same time ensure that all the regulatory requirements are adhered to.
All Trustees are elected at Annual General Meetings and re-elected every two years. No trustee can be a trustee for more than nine years. trustees are elected from the general membership of the charity and based on their skills, knowledge, and experience. At the election, each member of the charity shall cast a vote by a secret ballot on first past the post.
