Opera in the Garden- Scrooby Manor House • Opera to reach the wider public • Employment of singers, directors and instrumentalists. A number of singers were at the beginning of their careers or/were pursuing opera as a new art form • Making performing accessible during Covid for the general public • Tying in performances in the historic grounds of the Scrooby Manor House in relation to the Mayflower Pilgrims for the first time in history • Employment of some local artists • A relax garden atmosphere • Outdoors and using the natural acoustic, less carbon footprint used • Local area has very little classical/operatic output • Creating work during Covid for those in the arts • Hiring local firms (e.g. portaloos) Gala in the Garden- Ye Olde Bell • Employment of 4 Young Artists, 3 of whom were recent graduates of performing arts schools. All received payment • Using local resources such as the sound engineer • Broadening public benefit by using a local Hotel & Spa for exposure to opera • Local area has very little classical music output • Hiring local firms Heritage Day- Scrooby Manor House • Both historic and musical • First time that the Scrooby Manor House has been opened to the general public • Entry- free of charge • Tours (charged), but public were able to access the house and learn about the history of the Mayflower Pilgrims • Public engagement and learning about the local history • Engaging a different audience that may not have been previously exposed to opera • Co -Event with Pilgrim Roots (Bassetlaw) |

Para 1.20 | The charity has been able to hold performances/ events on three separate occasions for the public benefit. Opera especially in the area isn’t something that is easily accessible, the charity has been able to scope a very different audience because of the events held throughout 2020-2021. Manor Opera has created employment for local artists, local firms and supported both professional and young artists. Manor Opera has co hosted events with Pilgrim Roots in support of raising awareness of the history of the Mayflower Pilgrims through its Heritage Day and Opera in the Gala, therefore reaching out to a wider and broader audience. |
