The purposes of the club are;
Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
To promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.
To Take an active interest in the civic , cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
To promote a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by the club members.
To encourage service minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavours.
The club was formed in October 2020 with 20 members and has focussed on local community service projects within the areas that our members reside. Whilst the majority of our members reside in the Midlands area we include members from around the country. The club meets virtually, online with occasional face to face events.
Community service projects in our first year have included litter picks, assisting to run local community events. Most of the clubs income has been generated through online events such as quizzes, murder mystery and donations from the Public.
Expenditure includes donation of planter box to dementia care home and donation to Lions clubs International Foundation (LCIF). Administration and governance costs include zoom licence to enable monthly meetings of members, subscription costs to lions clubs International. Note that all admin costs are supported through contributions from members through dues and other individual contributions.
In total Income for this reporting period was £3375 and costs £1043. The primary focus for the charity is to support local community service with small donations to charitable causes for example LCIF as outlined above. LCIF responds to natural disasters around the world and providing awareness and support for health issues such as avoidable blindness.
Plans for the coming year include donation to Dogs for good (support dogs) with contribution from a dog show (virtual), more community service projects and events, donation of planters to dementia care homes, supporting Lions youth projects. We also plan to support Parkinson’s UK and help to marshall for Worcester City Ladies FC matches.
