Painting of the Headmasters flat for the incx)ming of a New Headmaster and CEO of the school trust on 1st September 2023. Many requests came from Hunstanton Town Council. they Greated candy sticks. teddy beaT5. angels. and stars for the H￿h Street Christrnas decorations. Christmas tree and stars outside town hall. Making Christmas trees from pallet wood painted green and silver with a star for sale to the public are well received and gNes us a small income from the donations. The workshop has been busy this year. wtth member5 constructing and ￿paIring many projects of theirown. Later in the year we received a more challenging request from Hunstanton town Council, could we construct a carrtage to be towed in the summer camival carying the senior boy and girf from our local primary school. They would be camival King and Queen. Our expert team of tea and coffee drinkers designed, constructed. on a trailer, supplied by Jim who supplied and upholstered Ihe (3rTiage. this full-size mock-up of the 'Royal landau, which was then painted. Fitted out in all tts splendour wtth the Town Councils crest emblazoned on the do0￿ and the men's shed on the number plate. On camival day towed by Jim in his vintage land rover and ac(x)mpanied by other members of the Men's Shed at the front of the procession to rapturous applause and rave ￿￿eWS. For the celebption of Ihe Coronation a large wooden crown constructed by Derek in the flower bed and filled with flowers by Ihe Rotary dub at the Town H811. Also, an 'odd socks calerpillarf constructed from pallet wood some twenty-five feet long mounted on railings in the esplanade gardens at sea front for the young children to draw on for'Hunstanton in Bloom.. Six bug boxes were made and permanently fftied into the Sensory Garden complex in Boston Square also for'Hunstanton in Bloom., Our contributÈons to Hunstsnton in Bloom have been well received culminating in Hunstanton receiving the highest award 'Gold' forAnglia in Bloom 2023. This year was not as hectic as our first year here at our Glebe House School site when we were either renovating the NisserF Hut or building toilet, wood store, and the Quiet room. raised flower beds. and V&￿1dfiov￿r garden, and laying gravel grids in the shingle. Wtth completion of our £4000 'Love Norfolk, grant, for purd)asing our large wood lathe, topsoil for flower beds, Paint for the exierior of our Nissen Hut. Gazebo and numerous assorted power and hand tools we required to improve our workshop for the membe[5. Working outside is problematic as you are open to all the elements of the weather, there was originally a semi-permanent gazetKI over the table saw area for many months. where Ihe birds deposited direct htts! They came in one day to find the inclement weather had completely destroyed and blown away Gazebo! It was decided to erect a sail over a larger area, again (x)stly and would ConStan￿Y have to be taken down due to the weather. This idea was shelved. A more permanent solukn.on developed. to ereGt an extension on the end of our Quiet room which would have a roof and three sides, where you could potter under cover without getttng wet. Later in the year when the Santa's Sleigh has gone, a mini tnarquee which was donated to the shed, will be erected for outside work under cover from the elements which will benefit members when it is wet and windy. We have Gontinued to help in making ilems for children's groups, a Large Sand box, and a water wall. Assisting collethng from local people who have lost a partner generously donating equipment and tools to us. Sometimes quality gear.1 We have been asked again thrs year to fft another set of one hundred tiles to the wall on the north promenade sea VMII under the day chalets. local sch￿1 children paint these. Unfortunately, the request is tcx) late in the year due to the weather conditions, but we will fft them in Aprivmay 2024 after the last frosts. During the year we have had a few members leave and new members join but sadly Roy Evans passed away on Thursday 19th October 2023. Roy always with a happy smile. One of life's ni￿St people.
