The charity does not employ any individuals, so everything is carried out by volunteers. During this reporting period our events were significantly reduced due to Covid-19. Our volunteers attended 16 organtsed events, spending a total of 590 hours clearing rubbish and improving the habitat in and around Cardiff. In addition, there were considerable hours contributed by the trustees in the background that are not recorded but should not be underestimated. We would also like to recognise the support and contribution made by our many partners. These include Cardtff Council. Keep Wales Tidy. Pontcanna Permanent Allotment Association, European Metal Recycling, Celtic MOT, Natural Resources Wales, Viridor. Groundwork Wales Pata 1.38 Contribution made by volunteers Other Achievements and Performance SORP referee From a financial perspective, this was a very successful penod. whichtriggered the need for fomial charity registration. Donations of money and scrap materials were the highest we have had and we are very grateful for the support we have reiVed from organisations in Cardiff. During the period we were able to recycle 24927 kg of metal. We 5uccessfvlly secured grant funding to train two volunteers in the use of chainsaws, and thr in use of brushcutters, as well as procuring the neSSary equipment and PPE. This has allowed us to significantly increase the capability, scope and effectiveness of the habrtat management side of the group's objectives. The main achievement of the charity during this period. however, was to undertake the 16 organised events in very challenging times. Our volunteers undertook 590 hour5 of practical work in 16 different areas, clearing 638 bags of rubbish, 10 shopping trolleys, 17 car tyres, 36 traffic cones, 5 bikes. 5 motor bikes, and several tonnes of miscellaneous items. which is a trdntastic achievement in the revailin condikn"ons. Financial Review Review of the charity's financial position at the end of the period Para 121 We are very grateful to finish the year in a very strong financial position_ One of our key objectives is the recycling of materials, which has gone very well.we have had many individuals and organisations donate metal that would otherwise have been discarded as general waste. By sorting this into dtfferent types we have been able to maximise the financial retum, while at the same time ensuring rt is repurposed as a raw material for something new. We also leiVed signtficant cash donations in recognition of the 10 years we had been operats.ng as a community grouplunregistered chartty. Looking ahead, we are now considering the best way to utilise the funds, but will not be making any major decisions until the COVID situation is much clearer.
