Objectives and Activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para1.17	To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society, in particular but not exclusively by: 1. Raising public awareness of the issues affecting Neurodivergent people, their parents and carers, both generally and in relation to their social exclusion; 2. Providing workshops, forums, advocacy and general support; 3. Providing a range of activities and opportunities for Neurodivergent and neurotypical people. For the purpose of this clause ‘socially excluded’ means being excluded from society, or part of society, as a result of being Neurodivergent, and those affected by these differences such as theirparents and carers.

		exercising their legal right to choose. Development of resources and new services that are yet to be delivered. Engaged with NHS to help people to get the healthcare they need. Unfortunately, we had to reduce our offer to members this year as we did not have the resources due to family bereavement and long- term illness.

Achievements and Performance

Para1.20	S4Nd won the local Best New Charity Award 2021. The charity has received positive feedback on its activities, it’s ambitions and mission. Development of new service that will be launched in the next financial year. Feedback received from members: The fellowship with peers, allowing me to understand myself better as an autistic person. Social groups help with loneliness (especially important during lockdowns, but also because I work from home so don't have a lot of social contact through work). I also find it fulfilling to be able to use my experience to help other group members. Being given verbal reassurance about my condition and then being given support and guidance as to how to approach my GP for a referral toget the helpI need.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE MEMBERS/TRUSTEES OF THE SOCIETY FOR NEURODIVERSITY CIO

Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

The charity’s trustees consider than an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility:

• to examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act

• to follow the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Act, and

• to state whether particular matters have come to my attention

Basis of Independent Examiner’s Statement

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items of disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a “true and fair” view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent Examiner’s Statement

In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

• accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act, or

• the accounts do not accord with the accounting records

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
