Objectives and activities
The objectives of thè Excelcare Foundalton are lo relieve financlal hardship amongst employees or the immediate
family members of employees of Excelcare 8nd 11 subsidiary companies who are in need by reason of ill heallh or
bereavement.
Grants will be made lo employees of Excelcare and ils subsldlary companies andlor to mèmbèrs of Iheir immediate
families who have been diagnosed with a terminal or seTiOUS illness or have been bereaved and require financial
assistance lo alleviate financAal hardship asso¢S8led with their termin81 or serious illness or beTeavemenl.
The slze of the grant made will vary from grant lo grant In accordance with the Appllcalion of Funds Policy.
Curienlly there are approxirnalely 2,500 peoplè who are employed by and ils subsidiaries

Trustees are ele¢t8d in accordance with the constitution al the ¢harilies annual general meeting. The procedura for
the appointment and period of setviGe hekl by Truslees is defined in the Foundation 1st trust deed.

The Iruslees are responsible for preparing the TrusléÈs Report and the financial statements in a¢cordance wilh
applicable law and regulations.
The Charities Act 2011 requires the trustees lo prepare financial statement for each financial year. The Irusleos

Charity Information
The Excelcare Foundation is a privale company litniled by guaranlee Incorporated in England and Wale5. Thè
registered office is Ertosun House, 61 Imdmore Road, Bromley, Kent, BR13AA. England.
1.1 Basis of prèparation
The financial statements have been prÈpared in a￿Ordance with the ch8rity's governing document, the
Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland" and the Charilies SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended
Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordan¢e with the Financial Reportino Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102) The charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by
FRS 102.
The charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP lor charities not lo prepare a s181ement of
cash flows.
The financial staternenls are prepared in stèrfing, which is IhÈ functional currency of the charity, Monelary
amounts in these financial slalements are rounded to the nearest £.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The PTincipal accounting
policies adopted are sel out below.
1.2 Going concern
At the lime of approving the finanual statements. the trustees hav8 a reasonable expectation that the charity
has adequate resources to continue in operational existen￿ lor Ihe foreseeable futurè. Thus the trustees
continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial stalemenls.
1.3 Charltsble funds
Unrestricted fund8 are available for use al the disci&tion of the Iru5tees in furtherance of their charitable
objeolives.
Restricted funds are SLJbjecl to speciflc condilions by donors tsr grantors 8s lo how they may be used. The
purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes lo the financial statements.
Endowment funds are subjeel lo specifi¢ Conditions by donors Ihal the capital musl be mainlalned by the
charity.
1.4 Income
Income is recognised when the chaTity is legal￿ entilled lo il aftèr any performance conditions have been met.
the amounts can be measurèd reliably. and il Is probable that in¢ome will be received.
Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations aiÈ recognised once the charily has been notified
ol the donation, unless pgrformance conditions require defeiral of the amount. Income tax recoverable in
relation lo donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenanl is recognised al the lime of the don2lion.
Legacies are recognised on rec8iPt or otherwise if the charity h8s been notified of an impending disiribulion,
Ihe amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount Is Dot known, the legacy IS treated as a
conlingenl asset.
Gift Aid redaimable on donation5 to the charity is recognised as incom& and included wlhin the amounts
re¢eived when the underfying donations are made.

1.5 Expendlture
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefil to
Ihiid party, it is probable that a tfansler of economie benefits will be required in settlement, 8nd the amount of
the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expenditure is classified by aclivily. The costs of eath activity are made up of the total of direct C051s and
shared costs, including support costs involved in undertaking each activily. Direct costs altributable to a single
activity are allocated di18clly to that aclivily. Shared costs which colllribute to more than one activity and
5uppori costs which are not allribulable lo a single activity are apportioned between those activi1185 on a basis
consislenl with the use of resources. Cenlral staff costs are allocated OH the basis of time spent, and
depreciation charges are allocated on the portion of the asset's use.
1.6 Cash and cash èqulvalents
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, dtsposils held al call with banks. other short.lerm IiqLJid
investments with original malurilies of three monlhs OT less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown
within borrowings in eLJrrenl liabilities.
Basic financlal assels
Basic financial assets, whid) indude debtors and cash and bank balances. are initially measured at
Iransaclion price including Irangaetion costs and are subsequently carried al amortised cosl using the effective
interest method unless the aTr2ngemenl constilules a financing transaolion, where the transaction is
measured at Ihe présent value of Ihe fLJture receipls discounted at a market late of interest. Financi81 assets
dassilied as receivable within one year are not 8mortised.
Basic financiTal liabililies
Basic financial liabilities, including creditors and bank loans are inilialty recognised al transaction price unless
the arrangement constilules 8 finanang transaction. where the debt in51iumenl is measured al the Present
value of the futur8 payments discounlod al a market rale of interest. Financial liabilities dassified as payable
within one year are not amortised.
Debt Instruments are subsequently carried al amortised eost. using the effeetive interest rale method.
Trade crediloTS are obligations lo pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary wurse of
operations frorn suppliers. Arnounls payable are classified as current 5iabililies il payment is due within olle
y8ar or less. 11 not, they are presented as non-current liabilities. Trade creditors are r¢¢ognised initially al
Iransa¢lion price and subsèquently measured al amoriised cost using the effective interest method.
Derecognitiort of financial liabilllles
Financial liabilities are dereoognised when the chaiity's contractual obligations expire or are discharged or
cancelled.
Critical accounting estim8tès and judgements
In the applicalion of Ihe charity's aecounting policies, the trustees are required lo make judgernenls, eslimales
and assumptions about the carrying amount ol asse15 and liabilities Ihal are nol readily apparent frorn other
sources. The eslimales and associated assumptions are based on historical expeTien¢e and other faolois that
are considered lo be relevanl. Actual results may differ from th858 eslimates.
The tsslimales and undedying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions lo accounting
eslimales are reeognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affeols only thal
period, or in the period of the ievision and future peiiods where the revision 8ffects both current and future
periods.
