STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE & MANAGEMENT The Museum occupies a Grade 1 listed Elizabethan merchanfs house, leased from Totnes Town Council on a 27-year lease from 6th October 2011 at an annual rental of £1. The Museum has become an entirely volunteer run organisation and this is working but is not without challenges. The governance and administration of Totnes Museum CIO is undartaken by a Board of Trustees who are all volunteers. Entry to the Museum is free. The chair of Trustees plays a key role in managing all aspects of the Museum. A core of volunteers carries out the range of essential tasks which enable the Museum to function and open to the public. 5. CONNECTED PERSONS Totnes Town Councll Is the Settlor of the Trust and leases the museum building to thé TrusL 6. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE The Museum 18 well situated and continues to attract significant numbers of visitors. During 2024-2025 it has been open three days a week from July to October and about 10,000 people from all over world have visited. Highlights of the year have included starting to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the house being buil( tsking part in the National Heritage Open Days fortnlght and mounting a display of photographs of the 16th and 17th century decorated plaster ceilings in Totnes, auditing the items in our collection that we have on display. and gaining a grant for storage and packing materials which will allow us to better care for some of the objects we have in storage. Volunteers are essential to the functioning of the Museum, and we are pleased to have a core of increasingly experienced volunteers as well as undergraduate and post graduate students working with us. The Grade 1 listed building continues to present interesting challenges and work is ongoing. Registered CharityNo. 11917
