The Tnjst was set up by Totnes Town Coun¢il {the Settlor) to provide for the
advancement of public educab'on by the Pfovision of a museum. It is govemed by
trust deeds dated 13t April 1987 and 3r0 May 1995. The original trustees were
appDinted by the Settlor, trtrt new tfustees are now app)inted by the trustees.

The building in whith the museum is situated is feased from the Settlor on a 27 year
lease from 6th
Odober 2011 at an annual ￿ntaI of £2. {£1 for the museum building and
£1 for the storage in Eastgate
Totnes T¢)wn Council provided free of charge the services of one of their employees to
act as administrator and treasurer. This arrangement came to an end on 16th AugLssI
2013, after which date the triistees conlinued to the museum on an entirely voluntary
basis.
The trustees gratefully acknowledge the support arKI assistance rendered to the
museum by The Friends ol Totnes Museum {fom)erly known as Totnes Museum
Society).
5. CONNECTED PERSONS
Totnes Town Counol is the Settlor of the Trust arKI ￿aSeS the museum building to the
Trust. Judy Westacott and Tony lfyhitty were l>Jth members of Totnes Town Council as
well as truslees.
6. ACHIEVEAIENTS AND PERFORMANCE
In March 2020 the accreditation ofthe Museum was renewed by Arts Council
England {No. 17) This was cause for (short lived) congratulation- because by the
end of March 2020, the museum had been forced to ctose tts doors due to the newly
enforced COWD restrictions vthich resulted in closure up until June 2021and a
curtailed season for the ￿riod under ￿VIeW (March 2021- February 20221.
A new manager was employed in late April 2021 and he has been regponsible for
undertaking a comprehensive suryey of the Museum'$ accessions, re-arranging of
exhibrts and exhibth.on spaces and, eventually, vElcoming visttors ba¢k into the
museum. It is envisaged that rt wll take several seasons before the museum will
On￿ again achieve r(S F￿&pandeM1C visitor numters. Thanks are due to South Hams
District Council for their efficiency in awarding Government COVID grants which have
proved pivotal in ensuring the survNal of the museum during thi5 trying ￿Trod.

As the charity trustees. you are responsible for the preparation of the

I report in respect of my examinalion of the Trusfs accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I
have follow￿1 ati the ap￿ICable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under sertion 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have completed my examinatM)n. I confimi that no material matters have
come to my attention in cOn[￿ctIon V4ryth the examination which gives me
