The Trustees consider that at the minimum to be effective we need a full-time Project Manager and a website that can be easily accessed and navigated by parishes, or those considering whether it might be sensible for a church to become a Festival Church. To this end, we are in discussions with the Church Commissioners to whom we will be submitting an application for funding later in the year, and if successful we would hope to secure match funding from another national charity. This is clearly crucial time for the future of church buildings. Many Dioceses are considering how they sustain the existing number of church buildings. The Archbishops’ Council is preparing new pastoral proposals for General Synod and there is talk of allowing churches simply to become “fallow” (which sounds like a synonym for closing churches that are still technically “open”).
