## **TRUSTEES REPORT** 

The Vizsla Health Trust was set up in October 2020 and exists to promote and support scientific research into genetic diseases affecting Hungarian Vizslas. Our current focus is Vizsla Inflammatory Polymyopathy (VIP) – and this has been the subject of an ongoing research project. For the future, VIP will not be our only interest. There are other inheritable Illnesses affecting the breed – Immune Mediated Disease generally and epilepsy and cancer too. Canine genetic research is a field with ever improving technology and the hope is that in future it will be possible to identify risk factors for even the more genetically complex diseases. Scientific Research costs money and we very much want to be in a financial position to explore and optimise any new initiatives that have the potential to help breed healthier vizslas 

We are most grateful to The Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity for transferring to us all of the monies in their dedicated “VIP Fund” (£10,850): this reflects our corresponding values but now quite distinct roles in the matter of investigating breed health problems 

Our first financial year has seen the setting up of the Trust’s infrastructure and website. It has been quiet on the fundraising front but with the easing of Covid restrictions it will now be possible to introduce ourselves to the vizsla community, and to start attracting support
