Parents were cory)limentary regarding the impact of the Youth Group. When we changed the group to allow
wider impact on newgr students, one parent cor￿la1ned when it was her chiky's last session. As a fesuK, the
leaders were creative and Invited her to continue conyng and fom part of the Youth Club leadershlp team as
h64)er.
The impact was wider than the Youth Club itsell. This was ep¥to￿lsed at the year 11 Leavers ceremony. Staff
made individual speeches about each student. Following the 8ppl8use, a member of Youth Club Iwilh autism
and acute anxiety) stood up and asked. knukj it be ok if I gave a speech?. This was followed by another Youth
Club member. This cascaded through the room undl overy chikl- including non-youth club memL*rs - had
glven an impromptu speech.
1. Art Th•rapy
Many themes were expbored in art therapy by our young people. including anger, frustratlon, being seen, bglng
helpgd, bging understocrtj. salety, setl-esteem. seifpconfidence, solf-worth. loss and grief, anxiety. chango, hopes
for the futufe and friendships, just to name a few. Each young person's art therapy was unique to them and they
used thei¥ sesslons to explore a variety of rnatt8rs.
One young person used the art therapy spacè to grieve 8ThJ accept loss. to express wothes and hopes
about their future whilst thinking #bout158ues from the past and to explore sow-ésteem and 8elf-
confidence.
Another young person Valu￿ and b8neltted from tho silgnce and calm onvironff*nt ofthe therapy
space, where Ih¢y coukl use 8rt materiais to selfsooth and to rellect on mornlng interactlons and
l¢ssons. This led to them beiro able to think through and share any concems that they had.
One young person used art thèrapy time to explore b)s5 of frlendship, stTuggle$ of f88llng alienated arKI
disconnerted from others. d￿re for shared experion¢es, to share hopes for the future and to thlnk
afr￿￿1 what they needs to be able to create change
Anoth¢r young petson used the art therapy space to non-vertmlty share foelings of anxiety so that thay
coukl be safety hekj. The art therapy room provided the student with the environment and time n8edgd
to work through fee￿ngS of anxiety. stress and frustration.
We ahyays start tho art therapy journey together with a non-directive apKKO8ch and on Session 3 the young
person reviews their experience, thinks about what it feels like to be in the 8rt therapy spoce ond has an
opportunity to make any changes. Often young people ask for staff lo make art alongside Ihem. Being observed
is a difficutt corbcept fo( many of our young peopbe and atthough staff still observe. it feels less intense for the
young people when staff are maknng art too. It also creates another dynamic to the thorapy sesslons where th&
art making becomes a tool for non-ve<oal communication for the youn9 person.
2. Whole school strand to •mbed cultural opportunities and the Arts Award across all of Aspire's sites.
Thanks to this funding, students who have nvrfer been atAe to participate on arts and cultural trips or
activitios have had those opwjrtunibes.
Ros Walkn's was invited back to CSEC where he ￿ an animalion workshop for students. They w8re engaged
and excited to develop Iheir skills further and use this Skill towards their Arts Award. In the aftemoon Ros
delivered a creative CPD session for teachers. where were able to leam the needed to create
accessible animations with students.
In May 2022. Shorteni1￿ and Orthard House took part in Rap therapy sessions. where they were able to use
their linguistic S￿LIS to express themfves.

In June. seW-taLbght artists Stella Slocktsidge vtsited sites to teach students how to customise their own
trainers. Stello buiK a successful business during the paThlerThc creating beautiful, cusloffmsed designs on
shoes for clients, which has become hef full-b'me job. Students were insFired by her story. especially since
she did the above just after completing her A leveL8. Wofking with a young. local attsl like Ste118 has made a
positive impact on the nwndsets of our students. wher6 Ihey beleve that they too could be successful In a
creative career.
During Bucks Art Week. St￿￿ents had the opporbjnity to visit lo¢al artists, studios and spèak to them aboul
their practice. Students showed exemplary behaviour and asked questions to support their 'Explore'18vel
Arts Award. Artists showwj a keen inteiest in w0￿1ng wth AsF¥re in the future.

8nd maintained the students. interest throughout.
We have 8 number of students here that struggle with social anxlety. lowlovels of confidence and are rlsk
averse however, lh¢ artists that came to visf(8nsured that everyone felt included and cr8aled their own place
of'art..
The staff were also very cOmp￿mentary about the impact ofthè artists and arè keen to fvrther support fvrtur•
arts programmes as w911 as pushing art across the curriculum where appropriate.,
Across Aspire sites, groukE of students were introduced to b¢8t boxing by Danny Ladwa from School of
Beatbox. Many interesting sounds were ttèatedl Students were able to wiite their own tyrfcs and layer
IhgSO Wth beats that Ihoy created with their voicos. At The Wicombe Grange, one normally introvgrt8d
student seemed to enjoy this session more than the others and realty camg Out of his sho11 to provlde
sterling porformance.
We invited jeweller. Sonny 8alli8rd baek to teach sifver viThJ workshoF6 8cross numgrous sltes. Students
were fully engaged and showed positive behaviour throughout. They rose to the th811enge of working wlth
quite challenglng materials. One particular student al CSEC who has not attended art lesson5 for some time,
asked lo do an gxtra session so that he coukl extend his skilL8 further. He now ha¥ a newfound enthusiasm
and curiosity for the subject and has discussed what sknlls he wouhj like to develop.
Students from The Vwcombe Grangè attended a giaffiti session at the Wcombe Arts Centre with local artist
Dan Wlson. Students were able to see the work cornnNssioned by The ￿cOntr Wanderers as well as
contribute to the local 9iaffiti mural. Som8 students were a reticent about attending howevef after the
event, on¢ Such students said. "It was blessed still. It was very therapeutic.. The students asked Dan Wilson
about his career and the Arts Centre to SUPFQrt the 'Explore' level Arts Award.
Jamie frorn Stre8t Style Surgery retumed lo Shortenilb, Orchard House and the Vfycombe Grange. He was
able to discuss his challenging chibjhood, not too dissimilar from many of our own students and how he
overcame such stiuggle5 through art. Studentslgam numerous spray- painting techniques, taking home
their own rAece of art.
students at Shortenills and Orchard house enjoyed taking parl in a ¢ircus sknlLs workshop provided by Circus
Sensible. The workshop was plched at the appropriate level for our students and all took part in some way.
Teachers commented that they were pleasanlty surprised 8t certain students who stepped out of their
comfort zone, who wouw nomalty not take part in such actpiities.

Internatlonal Art Conference
On thè 22nd June 2022 AsrAre hosted an international conference with the aim of exploring the link betsveen
curture and identity in schooLs and communities. It focused on how exposure to and engagement with local,
national and internats'onal cutture has Ihe p)tenb'al to enrich students. learning and improve Ihoir life chances. Its
aim was lo rai58 questions aiound.. how we as educators culturalty respond lo divers8 Students? How do we
ensure we give voice to all cultures represented in our shared spaces. Th8 online event included a diverse range
of speakers, including Kwakz, "A relatsb16 rol6 moder and Lisa Stephenson- Story makn'ng as a pedagogy of
belonging.
The onllne 6vent look plac8 during the day and followed by the evening event at the beautlful Wadd8sdon
Manor. The face-to-faco evgnl included a light he8rted rap and poetry w0￿shopS with Dan Slmpson from the
Poetry society and V6ronica Youdell from Rap Yoga. Parli¢ip8nts leamt the benofits and possit#lltie8 of using rap
and rhyme as a litO18Cy tool in the classroom.
The evaluation and feedback from delegates was extremety posibve. At the end of the evening ovent delegate8
asked what we wore doing next. The conlerence had inspired and igrutad conversations.
Platlnum ARTSMARK Award
Aspire's Joumey with the ARTSMARK was interrupted by tho Pandemic. however the Art department worked
extremety hard aThJ were awarded the highest grade of PlatinLbm. It recognisos that AS￿1￿,8 quality of provision Is
'strelching'. the pedagogy and practice is 'advocating' and the impact is"maknng a dlfference.. This award Is valld
for tsyo yea15 and will ¢xiir8 on 06109r2024. Aspsre are lookirvJ to the future to maintaln this status.

The Rothschilds Foundalion wovided AsFire with a further grant of £1 S,000 to buy new IPads to support198rners
in achieving the Arts Awar(J, and complebng cieative projects.
Our original for the 24 Ip8d8 w8S to support a more efficient way of recording thè Atts Award across Aspire.
However, after subnitting our fitst round of Arts Awards in Novembef 2022 we decld&J not continue wth the
Award. as many did not pass due to lack of writtenl verbal evaluations. As a multi-site School and continuously
changing cohort. the amount of adrninistratson thi5 created for staff was unrea￿5￿C and time consuming.
Training:
A¥￿Te have utilised the ipads across the ￿001 to develop the ￿eatiVe curriculum. We booked 5 training days
with management company Jigsaw and have taken part in 4. Training sessions have included teachers from
across the curriculum and siles, exploring simple and accessi￿* apps that students can use to learn creative

Student 8ngagem8nt in Art is at an alktimè huh. Tea¢hets are confident in U￿n9 ipad technology lo support and
enhance our creative curriculum. Students have shown a confidence in experimenting with dlgital technology by
using their 8xisling knowledge of using smartphongs supplemented by teacher knowledge. Most students have
leaint how to create digital drawngs and animations. this has been a particular success at GCSE level, with
students using digital drawing to explore arKI exp6rim8nt their Ideas visu81ty.
Ask¥re are now able to offer a better offer of Phoiography. as there are enough ipads for a class. Students have
enjoyed experimenting with levitation photography, Bokeh, Light painting and $lte speciffic photography. They
have been able to tske these back to the classroom and edit these.
Overall, the ipads have provided Aspire with [￿Ch needed a¢c6ss lo digit31 learning, hglFxng lo reengage
students and promote Independenlloaming sknlls. As our ¢uriiculum develop￿. we are confident that students
ar8 learning skills that they are able lo take with them beyond AstArg.

We wlll purch889 and refurt4sh a ￿nibu￿rA￿er van to expand our outreaGh work with chlhjren reluctant to
attend school for mental heaAh teason$. Thls WO￿ coukj be in partnership with YOS. This wlll encompass
therapeutic art.
2. Focus on bronz• arts award
We h8v8 booked several days of tTaining from Jigsaw for the Art department and beyond, wlth the aim of
broadening our skn'llset in the digital Arts. We hope to explore augmersted real'ty. digital drawing as well as other
routes of cieativity. This will in tuin engage students even further as well as educate them in the extensive
caree￿ available lo them in the digital arts.

Whilst we have represented diversty within the woied aTrJ empowèred students through inclusive practices, we
hope that we can develop further impact Ihrough workiThJ with our communities.

Integral to this is linking our projects with our Caree￿ programme ty m8kiThJ further relationshi[6 With local
creative resources. This will improve the provision and further our reach with reakworkj authentic experience5 for
our students. For example. we wouhj like to sign up a number of students to a 6-week ceramics course with
Inspiration Bloo￿ in Holmer Green as well as more extensive jewellery COu￿e. One of oui school sites,
Shortenills woukl like to develop theatre sknlls for their SEMH cohori. and we have identified working with
Intermission Theatre Company across our schw*.

Financial revi•w
Total income for the year was £103.493 with total expenditure being £167.029. The surplus exp8ndllure relates
to the fart that the Charity incom8 pr8d0￿n8￿tty was front loaded to the earty stages and over time, unll further
granls are sought and awarded, the Charity wll continue to draw down funds that were awarded In 2021. As at
31 August 2022. total funds carried forwafd were £46,795.

resources lo conts'nue in operational existence for the foreseeabbe frjlure. For this reason, they continue to adopt

The Charity does not intend to hokl re$8rves. Funds are allocated to Spe￿￿¢ tim8-bound projects and expenses
matGhed to the lund$. Shoukl projects b8 delayed. funds will be canied forward and matched to expenditure as it
arises.

AstAre for Young People is registered as a charita￿e company Iwited by guarantee and way set up by
Memorandum of AsSOLaation.
b. M•thods of appointmenl or •lection of Trnstses
On 1st Juty 2021. the Charity apwinted 5 Trustees. one of which was the CEO of Asixre Schools and another an
Asi￿re Schools staff member. The remaining three were indepeThJent of As(xre Schools.
As per the Charity's Articbes of Association. a minimum of 5 Trustees. and a maximum of 1 S Tru5tee5, can b6
appointed. with Trustees boing members of the Board of Trustees for the Charity. The term of office, wlll be a
mlnimum of 4 years. which can be extended for a further 4 year temi on expiry. Trustees can resign their
p)sition at any in writiThJ to the Chair of the Trustees.
To ensure independence of the Charity from the parent Co￿VanY "AS￿re Schools" no more than 40% of the
Board in total, will be made up of existing Trustees of AS￿re Schools or staff employed through either Aspire
Schools, or any subsidiary company of Askyre Schools.
The Executive Head Teacher of h3iMre Schools. ￿ThI1 b8 deemed to be through thelr posibon, a Trustee of the
Charity. Their position must be included wtthin the 40% total of existing Trustees or Staff of AsFire Schoo&.
