The Trustees present their annual report together wrfh the financial statements of the Chartty for the period 1
July 2020 10 31 August 2021. The Annual Report seNes the purposes of both a Trustees. report and a directors,
report under company law. The Trustees confimi that the Annual Report and financial statements of the
charitable company comply with the current statutory requirements, the requirements of the charitable companls
governing document and the provision5 of the Statement of Recommended Practice ISORPI applicable to
charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland IFRTrJ1021 leffeGtive 1 January 2019).
Since the Charity qualrfies as small under section 382 of the Companies Act 2006. the Strategic Report required
of medium and large companies under the Companies Act 2006 (Strategic Report and Directors, Report)
Regulations 2013 has been omrtted.
Objectives and activities
Policies and objectives
The charity's object is lo advance in lrfe and relieve needs of young people through=
1. the provision of recreational and leisure lime activf(ies provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to
improve their conditions of lrfe.,
creating increased access to artistic and cultural activities and education
3. providing 5UPPOrt and activitie5 which develop their ski115, capacities and capabilities to enable them to
participate in society as mature and respjnsible individuals.
b. Strategies for achieving objectives
The charity is committed to working wth partners to enhance the opwlunities available for vulnerable and
di5advanlaged young people. and lo involve them in activities that they would olherwse be excluded from.
. Actimties undertaken to achieve objectives
Project 1- Better Lives Through Culture
This is a 3 year project with three strands..
1. Youth club for young people with signfficanl mental health needs
2. Art Therapy
3. Whole school strand to embed cuftural opportunities and the Ajts Award across all of Aspire's sites.
Project 2- Provision of food and essential items during the covid 19 pandemic
We received funding from both the Rothschilds, and the Jackson Garden company lo provide fotrj and essential
items for our most vulnerable young people and theirfamilies during the pandemic.
Project 3- Dtrescalation room
We received funding for a one year project lo create and staff a de-escalation room at one of our PRU siles. The
funding included providing training for our staff to ensure that the d￿eSCalatiOn room ha5 longevity beyond the
project.
Project 4- Musical Mentoring
The Lisa Crispin Charitable Foundation is supwrbng Aspire to work with 'Relatable Rolemodels. one day a week
to proV￿e musical mentoring for S￿dents at CSEC for 9 months.
Project 5 - Technological support for the arts
The Rothschilds Foundation have provided us with a further grant of £15.000 to buy new IPads to support our
learners in achieving the Arts Award, and completing creative projects.

Achievements and performance
a. Main achievements ol the Char
Project 1- Better Lives Through Culture
This is a 3 year project with three strands..
1. Youth club for young people with significant mental health needs
Approximately 40 students have now engaged wth the youth club.
Engagement has included a trip lo Waddesdon. which is a major achievement for many of these students
2. Art Therapy
25 students have Cu￿entlY benefited from Art Therapy
3. Whole school strand to embed cultural opportunib'es and the Arts Award across all of Aspire's sites.
Thanks to this funding, students who have never been able to partiapate on arts and cultural trips or
activities have had those opportunities. This included over 800 students last year (the number was less than
usual because of comdl.
4. Other benefts
We have played a pivotal role in supporting thè set-up and launch of the Bucks CEP. Recently this has
included tTring to develop suitable opportunities for our s￿dentS wth Bucks Archives and the Elgiva Theatre.
We will be prowding the content and coaching for the 'Bucks Cultural champions, programme.
We have used both Buckinghamshire Association of Headteachers IBASHI and the Primary equivalent
IPEBI to raise the profile of the CEP. we are actively involved in the Bucks Art leacher network to share
opportunities. We are pushing the 'cultural champions project, with all of our partner schools.
Last year we ran an online international CPD conference 'Aspire- Power of the Arts, and this year we will be
running another wth a foc#Js on cultural leaming that wll be a hybrid virtuallreal life offer.
Project 2- Provision of food and essential items during the covid 19 pandemic
l. Grant 1 - £1,300 from the Rothschilds
2. Grant 2 - £4,000 from Jigsaw Marketing, Jad(son Garden Centre
Aspire for Young People was incredibly grateful to receive this grant for £1.300 in the middle of 2020 towards
the end of the first peak of Covid-19 in the UK.
The families that Aspire for Young People Se￿e$ were particularly badly hil by covid for a variety of factors
including poverty and lack of effective support structures. This grant from the Rothschild F￿Jndati0n enabled
us to step in and provide emergency support for our young people and their families at a time when it was
badly ne￿ed, and in immediate response to the challenges they were facing.
In all, ju51 over 150 families were supported by these grant5, Wtth item5 provided varwng on the indiwdual
need5 of the recipient families. and the average 5UPPOrt per family being equal to approximately £30.
Some families were identified who were struggling yet did not meet the Pupil Premium requirement for the
free school meal vouchers provided by Buckinghamshire Council, and they were given Tesco vouchers of
bebNeen £10 and £100 depending on need.
other families, many of whom were unable to leave their houses during the pandemic, received f(x)d parcels
that were purchased by staff in response to the rf(ems that were needed. such as nappies. feminine hygiene
prcxjucts and baby milk
We also ensured that the support packages were delivered by families knew the families. and lthom the
families could trust. and this gave us the opportunity to check for any potential safeguarding risks or dangers
of hami to our young people.

Project 3- De*s¢alation room
Set up nearly complete.
We have agreed on outcome measures for wpils lo complete (Beck Youth Inventories scales on anger.
anxiety and destructive behaviourl.
We have agreed on a Likert scale measure for staff. and have planned pre and post qualitative and
quantitative measures
the qualitslive will be undertaken via semi structured interview and thematic
analysis- staff and students.
Experimental group of students identified and will be starting to use the sensory room after half term. A50
collecting data on who uses the room, duration and impact. Other data from SIMS, attendance, behaviour
points {posf(ive and negativel will be included. We have started a refiective journal as we plan lo wite up
and publish findings.
Project 4- Musical Mentoring
Project started in October.
The project wll involve M students intensively at one time {around >5 months each}. with more students
and staff involved in a lighter touch and more flexible way. Previous experience has shown that the
'menloring through music, model has most impact when young people engage for a minimum of three
months, but for some young people {especially those in KS41 they may well benefit the most from continued
engagement until the end of the academic year.
Expected beneficiaries..
Intensive (provided to those young people d*med most 'at risk'}-. 12-15 over g months
Lighter touch= 30-50 YP over 9 months
Staff= support for approximately 20 staff for g months
Project 5 - Technological support for the arts
The Rothschilds Foundation have provided us with a further grant of £15,000 to buy new IPads to sup
our leamers in achieving the Arts Award, and completing creative projects.
This project was agreed at the end of January and the IPads are yet to be purchased.
Financial review
Total income for the year was £223,350 and total expenditure for the year was £113,019. The surplus fcK the
year was £110,331.
. Going concern
After making appropriate enquiries. the TTuslees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity has adequate
resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason, they continue lo adopt
the going concem basis in preparing the financial ststemenls. Further details regarding the adoption of the going
concem basis can be found in the accounting wlicies.
b. Reserves policy
The Charity d￿5 not intend to hold reserve5. Funds are allocated to specific tIm￿bou￿d projects and expenses
matched to the fvjnds. Should projects be delayed. funds wll be carried fopNard and matched to expenditure as it
arises. Total reserves at the year end were £110,331.
StTUCture, governance and management
a. COnsti￿tion
Aspire For Young People is registered as a ¢harrtable ￿rnPany limrted by guarantee and was set up by a
Memorandum of Association.
b. Methods of appointment or election of Trustees
On 1st July 2021, the Charity appointed 5 Trustees, one of which was the CEO of Aspire Schools and another an
Aspire SchcK)Is staff member. The remaining three N%ere independent of Aspire Schools.
As per the Charity's Articles of Association, a minirnum of 5 Trustees. and a maximum of 15 Trustees, can

appointed. wth Trustees being members of the Board of Trustees for the Charity. The term of office. will be a
minimum of 4 years, ￿lch can be extended for a further 4 year temi on expiry. Trustees can resKJn their
position at any time. in writing to the Chair of the Trustees.
To ensure independence of the Charity from the parent company °Aspire Schools" no more than 40% of the
Board in totsl. wll be made up of existing Trustees of Aspire sc1K￿ls or staff employed through either Aspire
Schwls. or any subsidiary company of Aspire Schods.
The Executive Head Teacher of Aspire Schcols. wll be deemed to be through their p05ttion. a Trustee of the
Charity. Their position must be induded wthin the 40% total of existing Trustees or Staff of Aspire Sthools.
In order to protect the overall interest of the parent company, Aspire Schwls, wll appoint an existing Trustee, to
oversee the operation of Ihe charity. and to ensure that action5 of the charity are consistent wilh the values of the
Aspire Schools, and that the charity dJes not act in a way which is in conflict wth Aspire Schools.
When appointing new Trustees, the Board of Trustees wll give consideration to the skills and experien￿ mix of
existing Trustees in order to ensure the Goveming Board has the necessary skills to contribute fully to the
Chariws development.
STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES. RESPONS181LITIES
The Trustees (who are also the directors of the Charty for the purpose5 of company lawl are responsible for
preparing the Trustees. Report and the financial statements in accordance wth applicable law and United
Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company law requires the Trustees lo prepare fin￿ela1 statements for each financial period. Under company
law. the Trustees must not approve the finanryal Statements untess they are satisfied that they give a true and
fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of its incoming resources and application of resources, including
its income and expenditure, for that period. In preparing these financial statements. the Trustees are required to..
select suitable accounting policies and then appty them consistently,

General inforrnation
Aspire for Young People is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity (company number
12710244 and England and Wales registered charity number 11917311. It is govemed by its
Memorandum of Association and its registered office is Aspire Schcnls. The Wycombe Grange. 56
Amersham Hill, High Wycombe, Bucks. HP13 6PQ.
Accounting policies
2.1 Basis of preparation of financial statements
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance wth the Charitie5 SORP (FRS 1021
Accounting and Reporbng by Charities= Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 (effective 1 January 2019}, the Financial Reports"ng Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Irel￿d IFRS 1021 and the Companies Act 2006.
Aspire For Young People meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless othe￿iSe slated in the
relevant accounting policy.
2.2 Income
All income is recognised once the Charity has ent￿ement to the income. rt is probable that the
income will ￿ received and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably.
Grants are included in the Statement ol Financial Activities on a receivable basis. The balance of
income received for specific purposes but not expended during the period is shown in the relevant
funds on the Balance Sheet. Where income is re￿iVed in advance of entitlement of receipt, its
recognition is deferred and included in creditors as deferred income. Where entitlement occurs
before income is received. the income is accrued.
Other income is recognised in the period in which it is receivable and to the extent the goods have
been provided or on completion of the service.
2.3 Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation lo transfer economic benefit
to a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in setdement and
the amounl of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expendi￿re is classified by activity. The costs
of each activity are made up of the total of direct costs and shared costs, induding support costs
involved in undertaking eaGh aGlivity. Direct Gosts attributable to a single aGlivity are alloGated diredly
to that activity.
Expendrture on charitable actiwtie5 is inujrred on diredy undertaking the activities which further the
Charity's objectives. as well as any asswated 5UPPOrt costs.
AJI expenditure is indusive of Irrecoverab￿ VAT.
2.4 Debtors
Trade and other debtors are recognised al the settlement amount after any trade discount offered.
Prepayrnents are valued at the amount prepaid net of any trade discounls due.

2.5 Cash at ba￿k and in hand

2.6 Liabilities and provisions
Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation al the Balance Sheet date as a result of a past
event, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefit will be required in settlement, and the amount
of the settlement can be estimated reliably.
Liabilits'es are recognised at the amount that the Charity anticipates it will pay lo settle the debt OT the
amount it has received as advanced payments for the goods or seNices it must provide.
Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the amounts rw4uired lo settle the obligatic￿. Where
the effecl of the lime value of money is material. the provision is based on the present value of those
amounts, discounted at the pre-tax discourit rate that refflects the risks specific to the liability. The
unmqnding of the discount is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activitie5 a5 a finance cost.
2.7 Financial instrurnents
The Charity only has finar¢cial assets and financial liabilib'es of a kind that qualrfy as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at transaction value and subsequently
measured at their settlement value wlh the exception of bank loans which are subsequently
measured at amortised c05t using the effective interest method.
2.8 Fund accounting
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in
furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity and which have not been designated for other
purposes.
Critical accounting 8stimatos and areas of judgment
Estimates and judgments are continually evaluated and are based on historical experience and other
factors, including expectation5 of future events that are believed to be reasonable under the
circumstances.
Critical accountiThJ estimates and assumptions=
The Charity makes estimates and assumpts'ons conceming the future. The resulting accounting estimates
and assumptions will, by definition, seldom equal the related actual results. The Trustees do not consider
there to be any material estimates and assumptions used in preparing the accounts.
