Nicola Casey (CEO & Founder) was invited to do an intemew on Granada Reports with Becky Morris, daughter of the lale new￿ reporter Tony Moffis who died from a Ta￿ renal ¢an¢eT. Becky was running in memry of her dad ai the Lon(kni Cobur Obstade Rush and wanted to raise awareness arKI funds for the Ricky Casey Trust. Following this, throu￿ the interview the charity was cc￿laCted by a men*er of the publtc vh￿e husbaNI signs and symptoms and requested support. Through prev[(x￿ events. a meeling took place with the Health & Care Leader for Oldham and we were o)nnected with various Health Care professionals across Greater Manthester leading to a meeting with the Clinic31 Lead for Urology. TAR Marth 2012 We attended an Answercancer confereft￿ where we met with Salford CVS who advtsed us lo apply for potential funding to help with our up(xHw awareness events in the o)mmunity. Two of the trustees completed the grant appliCa￿n vthid) was successful which enabled us lo Pro?￿de leaflets for presentations f(K 2 events. One was at our local football grouTrJ. Oldham Athletic FC as had been chosen for their dedicaled Charity Spot1￿ht Event the Other was at a Black Man Health Awareness evening whith encouraged some of those who were not avrare of their status to be tested. We have also attended otsr local support gr￿pS and rais8d awareness. We also met with th8 CEO of the Sickle Cell Care Manth8Ster and the Lead Nurse Practilioner of the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre Manthester who were very keen lo collaborale in joining fOr￿S and raising awareness af the connecti(￿ wth Sickle Cell and RMC. Through this conneclK>n V￿ were invited to be part of the North West Sickle Cell Patient Evant. We met other organisalions who were intèr8Sted in The Ricky Casey Trust holdin9 an ayrdreness event withwi their oiganisation. The Ricky Casey Trust is currenty in the process of contrbuting to a GP training module (Gateway Cl highlighting signs and symptoms of RMC. Fundralslng Actlvftles: The Virtual Walk that was devekp&J in collaboration with thè Chris CJ Johnson Foundation in Houston Texas continues to be our annual 'Keepin it Renal. event. Our 2024 virtual walk began on 6th Marth whith is Ricky Casey's birthday and ran througFthi the month of March vthid) is also kwjney cancer awaren8ss month. Pe￿>18 set themselves Iheir own thallenges throughout the month. On 23rd March our trustee Lee MacAllister arKI friend Gtyn Billingknn led a group to walk from BlacWK)l FC to Springhead FC in Oldham. This was a 54 mile walk thal was C￿eted in 22 hwrs and was to commerale Ricky's 54th birthday. They were also supported by a local cycle team and some of other trustees joR)ed at various points in the walk. This was hlsge SU￿esS afKI raised muth needed furmjs. The event was documented by RAM Films. A new l-shirt was designed aThJ printed for this event wilh a QR code printed on the t-shirt thereby athjing another way to colleca (kn￿ti( Our Annual Charity Ball vras held on Saturday 9th March 2024.
