The trustees run and manage the activities of Sanskruti. All trustees give their time voluntarily and freely. No remuneration or expenses were paid in the year. No benefit in cash or kind was taken.
Adapting to circumstance of lockdown, Sanskruti collaborated with other charitable organisations to be able to reach out to wider virtual audiences for the webinars conducted.

||Sanskruti was incorporated as CIO in October 2020 soon after
which there was second wave of COVID resulting in lockdown.
The lockdown was lifted through the roadmap stepwise after
May-June 2021.
Consequently, there was not much venue-oriented activity
involving physical presence of participants or performers.
Instead, there was a variety of online events/ virtual webinars
organised for public beneft. Sanskruti has also collaborated with
other charitable organisations to efectively reach wider
audiences. The webinars benefted few thusands of online
attendees.
From the formation in October to the date of submitting this
report (i.e., April 2021), fve free webinars were organised for
public consumption.

Two webinars were held in October.
**Shaandaar Sindhi (with Sindhi Association of UK)**
This event highlighted the cultural favour of Sindhi community,
in terms of dance, song, cuisine and poetry. Attendees have
come to know heritage aspects of Sindhi people.
**Vedanta for Global Wellbeing (in collaboration with Arsha**
**Vidya UK)**
Traditional social and family values keep people going in the
face of any adversity. This session highlighted wellbeing
through the lens of Vedic wisdom.
**International Integration Day**
Apart from organising the webinars, Sanskruti has also
presented dance as part of the cultural program during
International Integration Day organised by NWAMI (
Networking
for World Awareness of Multicultural Integration)

**Utkal Sanskruti (in association with Odisha Society UK)**
Some of the exhilarating dance forms of Odisha (Utkal region),
and ancient and interesting creative arts were showcased
during this event, the elements underscoring the heritage of a
region and community.
February 2021
**International Mother Language Day**
Language and literature form an important part of compositions
and spoken word used for dances, the heritage and legacy that
we inherit from our seniors and pass it on to younger
generations. A three-hour event was held involving
presentations in more than 20 languages covering South Asia|

(India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Bangladesh). Diplomats of some of these countries attended and gave opening words to the event that has encouraged all the presenters and participants.

## **Mother’s Day**

The Trustees have ensured that the organisation and its activities complied with the guidance and regulations of the Charity Commission. The situation was entirely new to all, and best efforts were made while adapting to the circumstances.

For the online events that were organised virtually, we required Zoom Pro which is a paid platform, that was kindly volunteered. Technical help to relay the sessions live on Face Book etc was volunteered. Similarly, posters had to be created to inform people of the ensuing events. Volunteers’ support minimised the expenses as well as provided expert help. It is a valuable contribution of time, energy and expertised, which enabled reaching of our objectives constructively.
The Trustees had two meetings to discuss the way forward and proposed to do few more webinars on some lesser-seen dance forms for the benefit of UK audiences, and beyond.

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**
In the pandemic-driven environment for the said period of operation of the charity, a lot of good-will was gained from the community, which is an achievement beyond material measure and benefit.
While physical activities, if conducted, would have been attended by fewer numbers or as per the capacity of the venue, the virtual events organised due to lockdown and social distancing rules were attended by a much higher number of people, beyond the UK. Sanskruti could raise awareness on different lesser seen or lesser-known art forms and conduct workshops by experts.
Because the main objects of the charity are raising awareness on culture and heritage for public benefit, primarily on dances, the trustees are of the belief that the charity performed well in terms of outreach and consumption. Few thousands of attendees have viewed these events online and had enriching experience, yet at the comfort of their homes.

## **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

The principal source would have been donations and sponsorships for the programs and activities carried on site involving participants. As during the five-six months to the preparation of this report, not much happened financially due to lockdown, no money or funding came in due to financial crisis everyone was facing. The trustees in fact chipped in from their pockets for the few expenses incurred meanwhile. Since the banks were closed as well, account could not be opened and therefore there were no cash flows. The trustees believe that more can be achieved, and stability can be reached once things turn more normal in the latter part of the year.

## **Future Plans**
As a new charity, we need to work harder to receive council funding, grants, Gift Aid and associate membership subscriptions for the future.
In the coming year, we focus on conducting workshops/structured activities to raise further awareness and deepen the knowledge on different folk dance forms, and continue using performing arts for raising awareness on environmental issues such as water management.
