The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) association formed on 6 October 2020 and is governed by a constitution.

## **Objectives and activities**
## **The charity's objects**
To advance, improve, develop and maintain the public education in, and appreciation of, the art and science of music in all its aspects by any means the trustees see fit, including through the presentation of public concerts and recitals.
## **The charity's main activities**
The charity organises and runs a community choir which is open for anyone to join. Rehearsals are held weekly and live performances are organised throughout the year, particularly to Care Homes, Day Care Centres and Independent Living Schemes.
## **Public benefit statement**
In setting our objectives and planning our activities our trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit and in particular the alleviation of loneliness and social isolation.
## **Achievements and performance**
This year the choir completed over 12 performances across the district in varying venues and occasions.
Residential care homes are the most popular venues we attend followed by local social events such as Horbury Street Fayre and Ossett Gala. Christmas performances continue to be our busiest time.
During the year our song set often reflects the seasonal occasions such as Valentine's Day love songs, Eurovision and the ever popular remembrance period as well as themes such as TV theme tunes and popular musicals.
The Choir also continues to support local fund raising initiatives by performing at events such as the Horbury & Ossett Rotary Primrose Afternoon Tea raising funds for new defibrillators and performing well known Christmas songs at Trinity Church, Ossett's Christmas Tree Festival raising funds for the Church.
This year the choir had a focus on Dementia care as a number of former members were receiving support and care for this in local residential homes.
The hope for the coming year is that we maintain or increase our members and continue to be invited to social and fundraising events across the district.
## **Financial review**
The net payments for the year were £15, all of which were unrestricted funds.
## **Reserves policy**
The charity's free reserves, at the year end were £4,157.
The charity does not have a reserves policy as there are no liabilities or commitments that cannot be stopped immediately if necessary.

## **1 Accounting policies**
## **Basis of accounting**
The trustees have taken advantage of section 133 of the Charities Act 2011 and have prepared the accounts on a receipts and payments basis.
There has been no change to the accounting policies since last year.
No changes have been made to the accounts for previous years.
## **Taxation**
As a charity the organisation benefits from rates relief and is generally exempt from income tax and capital gains tax but not from VAT. Irrecoverable VAT is included in the cost of those items to which it relates.
## **Fund accounting**
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity.
Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure imposed by the donor or through the terms of an appeal.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the accounts.
