## **Objectives and activities**
## **The charity's objects**
To advance, improve, develop and maintain the public education in, and appreciation of, the art and science of music in all its aspects by any means the trustees see fit, including through the presentation of public concerts and recitals.
## **The charity's main activities**
The charity organises and runs a community choir which is open for anyone to join. Rehearsals are held weekly and live performances are organised throughout the year, particularly to Care Homes, Day Care centres and Independent living schemes. Online performances are produced at regular intervals.
## **Public benefit statement**
In setting our objectives and planning our activities our Trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit and in particular the alleviation of loneliness and social isolation.
## **Achievements and performance**
We really thought that at the end of our financial year 21/22 that we had seen the end of lockdowns due to the Covid 19 but how wrong we were. We do provide entertainment and enjoyment to some of the most vulnerable groups there are with regard to Covid. Our programme of live events had to be curtailed as individual units found that they needed to go into isolation for varying periods. This had an adverse effect on our income from donations.
We were very fortunate in obtaining grants from National Lottery, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council and Wakefield District Housing which enabled us to continue with our online productions and these have proved a lifeline to both our members and our audiences.
Whilst we have been impacted by the Covid 19 virus , the Trustees have reassessed the charity’s ability to continue for at leastv12 months from the date that the accounts are approved and conclude that no material uncertainties exist that cast significant doubt on the charity’s ability to meet its liabilities as they fall due.
## **Financial review**
The net receipts for the year was £307 all of which was unrestricted funding.
## **Reserves policy**
The charity's free reserves, at the year end were £2,636.
The charity does not have a reserves policy as there are no liabilities or commitments that cannot be stopped immediately if necessary.

## **1 Accounting policies**
## **Basis of accounting**
The trustees have taken advantage of section 133 of the Charities Act 2011 and have prepared the accounts on a receipts and payments basis.
There has been no change to the accounting policies since last year.
No changes have been made to the accounts for previous years.
## **Taxation**
As a charity the organisation benefits from rates relief and is generally exempt from income tax and capital gains tax but not from VAT. Irrecoverable VAT is included in the cost of those items to which it relates.
## **Fund accounting**
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity.
Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure imposed by the donor or through the terms of an appeal.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the accounts.
