Our**
**Charity has organised these campaigns**
**independently inviting fully qualified Vets**
**from Italy and local volunteers and workers.**
**In May this year we were joined by UK vets.**
**This was a very successful campaign and is**
**to be repeated in 2025.**
**The dogs were micro chipped and treated**
**for internal and external parasites. Also**
**many surgeries were performed including**
**amputations and enucleations.**
**We have rehomed a number of dogs on the**
**Island that were living the Municipal**
**Kennels to responsible owners providing**
**support and education regarding the**
**appropriate care of animals. All dogs were**
**micro chipped, treated for parasites and**
**treated by the vets for minor ailments**
**where needed.**
**This will reduce the number of**
**unwanted puppies being born and**
**further increasing the already massive**
**population of free roaming dogs on the**
**Island of Sal.**
**This not only benefits the dog**
**population that are already**
**malnourished and suffering but also the**
**public from the dangers of being bitten**
**by dogs gathering in packs looking for**
**food and fighting over unneutered**
**females. Less dogs also decreases the**
**amount of dog fouling in public places.**
**In the Municipal Kennels dogs now are**
**fed staple diets and are free from**
**infestation of ticks and disease and**
**starvation.**
**We have printed hand out leaflets to**
**help the locals understand the**
**importance of neutering and parasite**
**treatments. We have seen a big increase**|
