SALONE EMPOWERMENT PROJECT
1. Objectives and Activities
The charity exists to advance the well-being, education, cultural identity and economic empowerment of people of African descent, particularly those with links to Sierra Leone and surrounding communities within Greater Manchester.
During the financial year, the charity focused on maintaining governance structures and developing foundations for future programme delivery. The charity’s intended areas of work include:

Well-being and mental health support services addressing emotional resilience, cultural identity and overall health.

Cultural and heritage engagement through promotion of arts, heritage awareness and connection to origins.

Educational and self-development opportunities including training in fundamental and vocational skills.

Economic empowerment initiatives including literacy development and support towards micro-enterprise and employment pathways.

Support services such as food assistance and clothing distribution where appropriate.
Although operational activity during the year was limited, the charity continued preparatory work and community engagement in line with its charitable objectives.
2. Public Benefit
The trustees confirm that they have had regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
The charity’s work is intended to benefit:

Individuals and families of African descent, particularly those with connections to Sierra Leone.

Individuals facing social, cultural or structural barriers including language challenges and isolation.

Communities across Greater Manchester, with particular focus around Stockport.
All activities are designed to advance charitable purposes for the benefit of the public.
3. Financial Review
For the financial year ended 31 March 2025:

Net deficit for the year: £828
The expenditure primarily related to governance, insurance, administrative costs and essential infrastructure necessary to maintain the charity’s operations.
The trustees confirm that no trustees received remuneration during the year.
4. Structure, Governance and Management
SALONE EMPOWERMENT PROJECT is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by its constitution and regulated by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
The trustees are responsible for the overall control and management of the charity and for ensuring that it operates in accordance with its charitable purposes.
5. Plans for Future Periods
The charity intends to develop and expand its programme delivery in the areas of:

Economic empowerment initiatives
