Fox Amateur Boxing Club

Report of the Trustees for the Period 2 October 2020 to 30 September 2021

The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the period 2 October 2020 to 30 September 2021. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

The objectives of the charity are primarily focused for the benefit of the inhabitants of Oldham, and the surrounding areas of North Manchester.

The objectives of the charity are:

a) the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities and opportunities for amateur boxing and other activities capable of improving physical health.

b) the provision of facilities for amateur boxing in particular but not exclusively using boxing and its training and techniques as a means of improving health and fitness and encouraging people to make healthy life choices.

c) to act as a resource for people living in the area by providing advice and assistance, and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities.

The aim of this is to advance in life and help young people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals. There are additional aims to advance education, relieve unemployment and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable activities

The charity has provided boxing training for adults and children, as well as the provision of travel to competitions. The charity has also the use of the facilities for fitness training for groups from local schools, as well as for children and young people who are not in education or training. The charity has provided support for individuals with the provision of equipment, clothing and financial support to aid in their education or training. The charity has also provided meals for participants of it's boxing sessions. Sessions have been delivered to the local community free of charge.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Financial position

The charity has received its income from a variety of donations, funding from other charities and local community organisations totalling £39,678.

Reserves policy

The trustees have reviewed the reserves of the charity and have concluded that to allow the charity to be managed efficiently and to continue its current activities, unrestricted fund reserves should be not less than 6 months anticipated expenditure. On this basis the current requirement is £6,000 at 30 September 2021. Free reserves at 30 September 2021 amounted to £16,906, which the trustees consider is a satisfactory level.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Governing document

The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes an unincorporated charity.

Organisational structure

The charity is governed by the trustees who meet regularly throughout the year. The trustees have been selected for their experience and knowledge with regards the boxing club and within the surrounding community. All decisions are made by the trustees at their meetings. In planning the activities for the year the trustees have kept in mind the Charity Commissions guidelines on public benefit and the objectives of the Charity.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Fox Amateur Boxing Club

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of Fox Amateur Boxing Club (the Trust) for the period 2 October 2020 to 30 September 2021.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

  3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
