June 2025 REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES The Trustees present their report along with the financial statements of the Club for the 6 months ended 3(Y June 2025. Historically the accounts have been submitted based on a calendar year from I, January through uritil 31" December. The "Lionistic" Year runs from I" July through until 30, June. A new Club President along with any other changes in officers are effective from I, July. The Club is submitting a 6-month report to bring the Club in line with other Lions Clubs and Lions Club International. Subsequent reports will lun from l JL¢ly through until 30, June. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the document "Charity reporting and accounting.- the essentials November 2016" provided by The Charity Commission for England and Wales Legal and administrative details The Club was established under a Charter in 1980. It is a Community Interest Organisation and registered charity, number 1191552 Ipreviously registered as 11112711. Trustees The Trustees who served during the period were-. The financial report is produced using receipts and payments accounts to provide a record of the Charivs financial activities durirTrg the year and of its position at the end of the year. In preparing those financial statements, the Trustees are required to.. select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently,. make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent- prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless It is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity which enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. During this time. we have recruited 3 new members. However, our long-standing friend Philip Barry resigned after 20 years, service. Philip received the much-coveted Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. During his time, he single handedly collerted over 100,Cm pair of glasses for Spectrek for use in developin8 countries and received a community award from the Woodley Town Council for his unstinting work on the Santa's Sleigh. Our membership currently stands at 20. The club received a Certificate of Appreciation from District Governor Lion Sandra Manktelow for our commitment shown in enabling the club to grow in membership and service and a letter of thanks for our donations to Lions Clubs Internation Foundation ILCIFI. Clijb members have actively attended and participated in Zone Meetings and organised a Zone Social Skittles evening in February raising £311 towards club funds. Our ever-popular Quiz Night in March raised £604 while our resurrected Easter Egg Raffle brou£ht in £308. Our donation5 amounting to £6.220 included grants to LCIF, Woodley Foodbank, and contributions to Zone towards a sight Vision camera and The National Association of Blood Bikes. Our exciting new project for 2026, working with The Woodley Town Centre Partnership. is a community event 'Woodley-on-Sea" for which we have pledged £5,000 toward a pop-up beach and other seaside attractions. Respectlve Responsibiltties of the Trustees and Independent Examiner. As described on page 3, the Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts, and consider that the audit requirement of s144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under s14515llbl of the Act. whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of Independent Examinerfs Report My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accotJnt5 presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosL¢res in the accounts. and the seeking of explanations from you of any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts. Independent Examinerfs Statement In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention.. l. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements- to keep accounting records in accordance with s130 of the Act,. and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act have not been met- or 2. to which. in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. Basis of accounting The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the inclusion of investments at market value and in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRSSEI entitled "Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
