1) For the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of Labrador breed dogs in need of care and attention and to promote humane behaviour towards Labrador breed dogs, in particular but not exclusively, by: 

a)  Providing grants of financial assistance to Labrador breed dogs rescue facilities established to relieve the suffering of Labradors in need

- of care and attention and provide facilities for the reception, care, treatment and rehoming of such animals; b)  The provision of free medical or surgical treatment, or such treatment at reduced charges, to Labrador breed dogs belonging to persons who are unable to afford the services of a veterinary surgeon; and 

c)  Offering advice on responsible ownership and re-homing. 

- 2) To advance the education of the public in matters concerning Labrador breed dogs’ health and welfare in general, including undertaking research into the same, the useful results of which will be published for the public benefit. Achievements and performance

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

Continued fundraising in the current climate has proved difficult, especially with the cost of living crisis but sales of rescue calendars, bespoke mugs and bandanas has gone very well.  Our JustGiving page has continued to raise money via the rescue website from unknown donors. ● 66 rehomed.  The most LUKAG has ever rehomed. ● **Winston -** home has been found and he has since visited Italy. 

- **July 2025 - Hugo -** positive rehoming.  Good to see the many ‘pupdates’ on social media and to follow Hugo’s journey. 

- ● **Chip** - His owners are working slowly with his treatment, and he is not in pain.  He has been signed off by the vets. 

- ● **Breeding bitches -** rehomed the daughter, who had a suspected heart murmur (but not present the following day).  Mum is doing well too. 

- ● **Narla** (daughter of Ted) - from Beccles/Bungay.  Had rehomed mum (Lexi) dad (Ted), sister and daughter. 

- ● **Chewy -** Has returned a few times for rehoming. ● As the charity is now 10 years old, sadly we have lost a few of the very first labradors rehomed, which is expected. 

Jules asked Trustees for their thoughts on the main reasons for dogs coming to LUKAG for rehoming.  It was felt this was due to financial pressures, people needing to work, and the impact of working hours on the dogs. 

Two new coordinators have joined LUKAG this past year and the Trustees recognised the valuable contribution they, and others make to the charity. 

   - Siobhan, who lives with her family in North Norfolk.  Siobhan rehomed Lexi, then offered to help out. 

   - ● Chloe, who lives on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.  Chloe comes with valuable experience, having dealt with spaniel rescue (fostering).   She is very knowledgeable, particularly around complexities.   Their valuable contributions were recognised. 

- Thanks were extended to Rachel at Posh Polly Prints Limited.   Rachel reported there are 52 mugs left, with Zoomies and Snoozies being the most popular.  It was noted how Etsy fees had spiked.  Sales will continue through the website and online shop and Jules will explore online shops where there are no fees payable on sales.  Trustee - Caroline Lewis has made the decision to step down as a Trustee and coordinator.  Trustees expressed their thanks and appreciation for her volunteer time and dedication, supporting the charity.  Caroline’s resignation letter has been received and accepted.  Trustees details will be updated on the Charity Commission site, and in line with GDPR good practice, passwords will be changed on Jotform etc. 

- Model guidance for the number of Trustees is 3 and above.  The Trustees decided to remain at four Trustees, and to monitor periodically. 

- The Code of Conduct is a set of rules, values, and ethical standards that outline the proper practices, behaviours, and responsibilities for organisations.  The Trustees agreed to adopt these standards.  Jules will send these to Chloe and Siobhan. 

- Four Paws –  A massive thanks to Siobhan and her team for their continued and ongoing support. A thank you to our adopters for loving our dogs and also to the families who have returned and adopted another from us.
