**despite**
**still**
**encountering difficulties in securing a**
**lease for permanent premises strength of**
**local support and interest encouraged us**
**to forge ahead and begin a programme of**
**arts and crafts courses for the local**
**community.**
**Grant funding was secured in December**
**2021 which enabled us to put on a series**
**of 11 courses for a total of 104 students.**
**The cost to students was a nominal**
**refundable deposit, which most chose to**
**donate to the charity rather than accept a**
**refund. The grant enabled us to**
**purchase**
**equipment**
**and**
**materials**
**necessary for the courses as well as to**
**keep for future community use.**
**Two further courses were held at low**
**cost to students without the benefit of**
**grant funding for a total of 12 students.**
**A weekly Craft Club was started in April**
**2022. The Craft Club has continued to**
**grow and is very beneficial to local**
**residents in creating a happy and**
**welcoming space for community crafting**
**and friendship.**|
|||**The charity hired space and hosted h.Art**
**open**
**studios**
**for**
**10**
**days**
**during**
**September. The majority of the 14 artists**
**taking part were local. The event was**
**well attended and supported by visitors**
**to the area as well as those closer to**
**Ewyas Harold. It gave good opportunities**
**for people to engage with the artists and**
**learn more about their crafts and working**
**practices.**
**A Christmas Craft Fair was held in a**
**village venue, giving the opportunity for**
**23 local artists and craftspeople to sell**
**their wares. A florist offered 2 courses**
**during the event for people to make**
**either a table centre piece or a wreath.**

**Friends will play a vital role in helping to**
**run the craft centre.**|
