CHARITY OBJECTIVE AND ACTIVITIES.

OBJECTIVES: TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT OF THE WEST AFRICAN COMMUNITY IN THE UK AND IN WEST AFRICA, IN PARTICULAR WITHIN THE AREA OF MONROVIA, LIBERIA BY ADVANCING EDUCATION AND RAISING AWARENESS OF MENTAL HEALTH AND BY PROVIDING SUCH OTHER SUPPORT AND SERVICES AS DEEMED APPROPRIATE; AND 2) TO RELIEVE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP IN THE DIASPORA AND IN WEST AFRICA WITH THE THREE BASIC LIFE NEEDS (FOOD, CLOTHING AND SHELTER).

Nothing in this constitution shall authorize an application of the property of the CIO for the purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the charities and trustee investment.

We divided our objects into three, and we want to take it one at a time:

  1. We will create awareness of mental ill health

  2. We will provide physical needs to mentally unwell people and their care givers

  3. We will provide shelter and treatment to the mentally unwell patients in Liberia.

ACTIVITIES: We are creating awareness of mental ill health in the west African community (especially in Liberia and Ivory Coast) We have visited three counties in Liberia (Montserrado, Grand Bassa and Nimba) and had meetings with market women to educate them on the existence of drug induced psychosis, depression and organic psychosis. Our campaign is ongoing, and continues until 31/12/2025.

FINANCIAL REVIEWS:

The total amount of money we received was 12,500 pounds. The total money spent for the charity projects was 12,500 pounds. Money was generated by selling old items which we as trustees have, putting our own spare change into the pot and selling all the second-hand goods given to us by our community.
