We strive towards equal opportunities. Conduct the finances of the band on a non-profit making basis, generating sufficient income from performances and members subscriptions, as to meet operating costs of travel expenses and make provisions for future purchases, repair, and replacement of band equipment.

Achievements and Performance

It was fantastic to be back to a fun packed year, with a full year of performances and weekly practices. With a growing band of new members, a busy 2022 started with volunteering at a local Folk & Blues Festival, car parking, a great day helping the community.

The summer season soon got into full swing with celebrations of the Queens Jubilee, Armed Forces Day, local shows, and fairs. Summers weather onside, carnival season was a great success, and are always the highlight of our summer. We were extremely

lucky to be invited to join Swanage and Shaftesbury at their Carnival, although not cheap to travel off the island with a coach it was an opportunity to enjoy two-day drips away. We were very honoured to be awarded with the best band award at Shaftesbury.

We are members of The Royal British Legion and a privilege to offer our services with helping to sell poppies and memorabilia at our local Asda store on the run up to The Royal British Legion Remembrance Parade & Service, which we were as always very honoured to be part of.

With all the hard work from our members we celebrated with a Fun Day held at Corf Camp, kayaking, archery, fun, games with BBQ with family and friends joining in.

Our yearly presentation evening took place along with the celebration of our 30[th] anniversary of Vectis Corps of Drums. Past and present members celebrating with the evening which was very well supported and well-deserved awards presented to members, disco, and a buffet.

For the first time we held a raffle which was drawn at our Christmas Party, with prizes being donated by locals, which was a great way to end 2022.

Financial Review

We have had a full year raising money during 2022, our first full year after the difficult couple of years of covid, we were unsure how it would be, but we feel it has been a success.

With performances and fund-raising events, Carnivals, local shows, Armed Forces Day, Queens Jubilee a good coverage of events to promote our band and raise funds.

We held a raffle at our Christmas Party, raising £1849.00, and we were very lucky to receive prizes from local businesses.

With the growing band, storage of equipment and uniform was becoming difficult, so we have purchased a storage container, which is located at the local primary school where we hold our weekly practices. The container was purchased for £3840.00, and the cost to transport to the Isle of Wight was £900.00, but we feel an investment that was a must.
