Minutes of the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of The Avon Valley Shed Wednesday 8th November 9:30am at the Methodist Hall. There were 25 members present, as recorded in the attendance book.

## 1. Apologies for Absence.

These were received from Andy Wilson. All members were united in their deep commiserations for Andy.

2. Minutes of the previous AGM. These were read and were unanimously approved.

3. Report by the Chairman of Trustees.

Chairman Gary Knight gave a full account of the background of The Shed and the developments which have led to a very positive current position, which now includes a dedicated, albeit temporary, workshop at Alderholt. He reminded members that the new committee system is intended to support future developments in a way in which everyone is able to contribute. He continued by outlining a vision for the future in which a dedicated site is available to members five days a week and community links are strengthened by the our engagement in projects and the use of facilities such as those provided in Damerham. He welcomed the security which the use of the Town Hall, for our future weekly planning sessions, has provided, not least because of the positive message it sends us from the Town Council.Gary took the opportunity to formally introduce new Trustees Alan Dudley and Steve Curtis. He also thanked fellow trustees, committee members and all Shed members for their ongoing efforts in making The Avon Valley Shed such a positive, welcoming and supportive organisation which has established much goodwill in the local community.

Particular thanks were given to those who keep the bacon rolls coming. A full copy of his report is available.

4. Report by the Treasurer.

Treasurer Malcolm Connolly summarised the financial situation up to the end of our last financial year, i.e. August 31st. Membership has raised £680, Donations £775, monthly direct debits from members £330 and Canteen income £850. Significant outlay was made on rent to St. Mary's Church of £380, Public Liability Insurance of £600 and the purchase of a new Lathe for £450.

Malcolm explained the significant impact of the £200 a month rent for the Alderholt premises and associated running costs.

On the positive side he was pleased to announce the contribution of £3400 from the Coop

Community Support scheme. Members were touched to hear of the generous £200 donation recently made by Kate Wilson.Members were reminded that nobody should feel any pressure or discomfort in relation to paying membership fees or paying for refreshments, it is understood by all that those who can afford these things will and anyone who is unable to is still welcome to be with us and fully engage in Shed activities.

However, The Treasurer did propose that it would be helpful if those who can afford to could increase their contributions to £20 a month or £3 a week this was unanimously agreed, as was the increase of the annual Membership fees to £30.

The Shed financial accounts and annual return to the Charities Commission are available to members from the Treasurer.

## 5. Any Other Business

The Chairman and Treasurer were given a rousing round of applause by the members in recognition of their work on behalf of The Shed.

There being no further business or matters arising the meeting was declared closed at 10:40 am.
