**How trustees are appointed:** Trustees are appointed on a voluntary basis, a rolling basis and is open to anyone upholding the charitable objectives subject to its safeguarding policy.
## **Activities and objectives in the year**
During this year, Caban Pentra’s principal objective was to continue the development of a new multipurpose community facility for wellbeing and welfare activites and to expand the number of active resident trustees.
## **Achievements and performance, including reporting on its public benefit**
- ongoing engagement with residents and groups in consultation on developing a new community and family facility and the kinds of activities and services to be accommodated as well as engaging with other partner
- engaging with Rural Fund programme and external funders regarding funding the development of the facility and activities
- lease transfer agreed for 25 years at £1/year
- development of business plan, communication plan, scoping work
- developing architectural designs for the space
- funding applications for the work and navigating inflated building costs
- engaging and appointing new trustees to drive the project forward
**Public benefit** so far has concentrated on the creating the necessary preparation to develop a new physical community facility from which to deliver on Caban Pentra’s charitable objectives in with a focus on the building work (feasibility, costings, funding), outlined below:
‘To further or benefit the residents who fall within the catchment area for gwaun cynfi primary school, gwynedd, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.’
## **Financial review including any debts and details of your reserves policy (if applicable)**
£140,000 secured through Rural Futures Programme (Lottery), £14,000 already paid to do initial work, of which £7388 remains. There is still a need to apply for the remaining £126,000 (including VAT) earmarked for the
project. Additionally, £3260 was secured for external support with business plan, communications plan, scoping work and fundraising training for trustees.
