commitment to making a positive impact on
the lives of children in the Afro Caribbean
community through the execution of the
You Be Excellent (YBE) initiative.
The You Be Excellent (YBE) initiative,
conceived in response to identified gaps in
soft skills development and wellbeing
awareness for Afro Caribbean children,
was successfully launched in July 2022.
This initiative provides a platform for
practical learning and engagement,
focusing on essential topics for building a
strong foundation for a better future.
A summary of the events held in the year
are listed below. The feedback received
from the beneficiaries of these events and
their guardians confirm that CultureAct is
empowering the children and their families
and making a lasting positive impact.

Explored the importance of financial
education for children.
October 2022: Virtual Workshop - "Eat
Right, Think Right, Be Well"

Focused on promoting a holistic
approach to well-being through proper
nutrition.

Reach Out and Stand Up"

Addressed the critical issue of bullying,
encouraging children to stand up
against it.
December 2022: Interactive Quiz Night

Wrapped up the year with a fun and
informative quiz covering various topics
and cultural questions.

Para 1.41 Objective 1: Expand the Reach of You Be
Excellent (YBE) Initiative
We successfully expanded the reach of the
YBE initiative, reaching more children in the
Afro Caribbean community. The events
throughout the year, allowed us to engage a
wider audience, both in-person and virtually.
The partnerships formed, particularly the
collaboration with JP Morgan Black Employee
Resource Group in Bournemouth in February
2023, extended our impact.

Through Diverse Topics
The monthly workshops and events
throughout the year effectively addressed a
range of topics crucial for the holistic
development of the children and families we
serve. From financial literacy in September
2022 to the Family Cybersecurity Workshop in
July 2023, each event contributed to the well-
rounded growth of the participants.
