## **What we’ve accomplished this year**

We have increased the number of delivery hours this year up by over 26% to almost 5,000 hours across all sectors. We have expanded into different areas of the community to reach over 5,000 participants.

## **Funding increase**

We obtained grants from Sport England, North Northamptonshire Council, National Lottery Community Fund and Postcode Lottery allowing us to launch new initiatives aimed at increasing the participation of girls in sport, crime diversion, social inclusion, health and wellbeing using basketball as the driver. We increased our collaboration with Basketball Northants to take over their NNStreetballerz initiative, expanding this into Corby as well as Northampton; we also delivered HAF projects on their behalf aimed at children on free school meals.

## Programs and Services

## **Community Sessions**

The Foundation has supported council and government funded community projects across the county, providing free access to basketball allowing children to get involved in the sport at no cost, as well as diverting children away from crime and anti social behaviour. We have used some of the funding to employ a youth worker to ensure the participants receive expert care and guidance whilst taking part in the various projects.

## **Our Impact**

_AA is very committed to the NNStreetballerz sessions and Basketball at this time. He has been attending regularly and has begun to make friends that attend the group with similar interests. He has recognised that previous friends were not a good influence and has reported that he is improving in school and went the last 2 weeks without a detention. He has built strong relationships with coaches at the session and talks to them about different aspects of his life. He has improved in his resilience when shooting and missing, he keeps his head up and does not let his confidence drop. He has begun to control his aggression more and use this in a more efficient way. He has spoken about this helping him in his personal life too, he reported that someone at school started to be rude to him and normally he would have hit him but instead he walked away, he was very proud of himself for this and coaches praised him for this. It has been clear that he has developed as a player but also as a young person through attending the sessions at The Racecourse._

## **Our Impact**

_LY is a 21-year-old, he joined one of the North Northamptonshire Council funded community sessions when he found out about the programme from a friend. Post the coronavirus lockdown, he was not in a good place, with extremely low confidence, and that was the case for over two years, he had one passion, basketball, but no outlet. He had only played on outdoor courts by himself, and was in danger of falling in with the wrong crowd._

_He describes finding the programme as “a dream come true” he finally had an outlet. He was welcomed into the group, and really engaged with the coaching, as a result his skills rapidly improved in a supportive environment, his confidence flourished, and when we launched the team from the sessions, he was first in line to take part._

_When he scored his first points, the love he felt from his team mates really entrenched his positivity._

_His mental health has improved significantly, and he summarises his experience that the Titans Foundation basketball programme “saved him” from an uncertain future._

## **Our Partners**

The Foundation continues to have positive relationships with Basketball England, Northamptonshire Sport, Basketball Northants, Moulton College, Rhino Sports Academy, University of Northampton, Northampton Students’ Union, Billing Brook Academy and Weavers Academy.

I've been given an amazing opportunity to attend multiple training sessions a week, play in national league games in u14s and u16s purple and attend all aspire sessions in Nottingham and has helped me improve and learn so much this season. I would not have been able to do all of this without the help from Titans. My mum and I can't thank Titans enough. We are extremely grateful.”_

## Financial Performance

## **Growth**

Our turnover has grown steadily over the past four years, reflecting increased engagement with supporters, successful fundraising efforts, and growing demand for our services. In Year 1, total income stood at £65,858, rising to £91,563 in Year

2. This upward trend continued with turnover reaching £121,537 in Year 3 and further increasing to £230,351 in Year

4. The year-on-year growth demonstrates the Foundation’s improving capacity to attract funding and manage expanding operations.

This growth in turnover has allowed us to broaden our reach and deepen our impact, while also strengthening its financial footing. Trustees continue to monitor income streams to ensure long-term sustainability, balancing growth with the responsible use of resources. Diversifying income and maintaining strong relationships with funders and donors remain key priorities as we build on this positive financial trajectory.

Any surplus generated during the year will be reinvested into providing free school sessions and community activities that support and promote the charitable objectives of the Foundation. The trustees are committed to ensuring that all funds are used to maximise public benefit.

**Use of Surplus Funds Policy**

Northamptonshire Titans Foundation

2023-24 ANNUAL REPORT

## Financial Performance

## **Securit y**

The reserves have shown steady and positive growth over the past four financial years. Starting from a nil balance in Year 1, reserves increased to £4,060 in Year 2, followed by a further rise to £9,296 in Year 3. By the end of Year 4, the reserves stood at £10,178. This consistent increase reflects prudent financial management and a measured approach to income generation and expenditure.

Maintaining an appropriate level of reserves is vital to the Foundation’s long-term sustainability. These funds provide a financial buffer to protect against unexpected costs, ensure continuity of services, and support planned future development. The trustees regularly review the reserves policy to ensure that the level of reserves held remains proportionate to the Foundation’s activities and risks.

**----- Start of picture text -----**
Reserves
12000
10000
8000
6000
4000
2000
0
Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4
**----- End of picture text -----**
The trustees have reviewed the Foundation’s financial needs and consider it appropriate to maintain unrestricted reserves equivalent to three months operational expenditure. This level is considered sufficient to cover short-term funding gaps, meet unexpected costs, and ensure the charity can continue to deliver its core services in the event of unforeseen circumstances. The policy is reviewed annually to ensure it remains appropriate in light of the Foundation’s size, financial risks, and future plans.
