## ’ - Annual Chair s report  for period April 2022 April 2023 

This year saw good progress made by the trustees as they continued to work on their grant application as part of a bigger grant for Levelling Up Funding applied for by Denbighshire County Council on behalf of Clwyd West. 

Having been promised a grant of £65K from Clocaenog Wind Farm fund to cash match any grant from the government, in January 2023, we were delighted to be awarded £327K for the renovation of the old school in Bryneglwys to turn it into a community hub. 

The trustees continued to maintain the building and opened a bank account for fundraising monies to assist with the running costs of the building. Although it was only used occasionally for CCIA meetings, the insurance, standing charges for electricity and water rates still needed to be paid. A trustee, whose property adjoins Canolfan Ial, also ensured that there was enough heating oil to allow her to switch on the heating in very cold weather. 

Work by trustees also ensured that the outside remained relatively weed free. 

Having been awarded the LUF grant in January 2023 a meeting was held in the school in February with the LUF team from DCC who informed the charity of the expectations of CCIA before any money would be released to us to pay for renovations. DCC would remain the fund holders. 

This included the need for our charity to appoint a project manager and to have a procurement policy and a comms policy (which we hadn’t previously had) and to complete all their paperwork on a monthly basis to record progress towards meeting the aims of this charity i.e. renovate the old school and give the village a community hub to be proud of. 

Trustees have since commenced working together to meet all these requirements to move our project forward.
