This year has mainly been a year of waiting to see if we have been awarded Levelling Up Funding by the UK Government whilst keeping the building in as good a condition as possible.
The Clocaenog Wind Farm project confirmed they would give us £62K in cash match the LUF should we be awarded it.
Having moved the date for their decision many times the Treasury finally announced in January 2023 that Clwyd West application for LUF had been granted this included our £327K to renovate the building.
We have had to use our monies to insure the building and heat it on occasions when the winter weather has been very bad, which has meant keeping the electricity switched on, so we have also met the costs for that.
Our secretary resigned due to health issues just as it was announced that we had obtained LUF funding. We are fortunate that an appeal in the village for additional trustees led to not just another trustee but a person well qualified to become our new secretary. He immediately took over all correspondence. This hopefully explains why our annual return to the charities commission is a little overdue.
To date we have had two meetings with Denbighshire County Council who will hold the LUF monies on our behalf. We are in the process of completing all the paperwork they require to fulfil their requests, to prove due diligence etc.
Denbighshire County Council will require this before they send us a Funding Agreement which when we receive it will also release the Clocaenog grant funding.
We have also sent out invitations to tender for the post of project manager. The LUF grant allows us to offer a fee for this important role.
This will be a very busy year for our charity which should finally see renovation work begin on the building. Under LUF conditions it must all be completed by March 2025
