Khristina Mccormack
A vision of compassion - In 2012,
Worthing Soup Kltchen (WSK) began with a simple
reali5ation.' our community's most vulnerable
neighb)urs were going hungry. What started as
Khristina Mccomack seNing meals from a car boot
has grown into a comerstone of support for Worthing.
Driven by the mission of SHOUT WSK, Khristina's
dedthion has transformed a grnssroots effort into a
mutti-knted regISte￿d charity.
Our Journey of Impact
The Early Years: RectrJni$ing a gap in weekend ServI￿s-8 time oflen linked to
high suicide rates within the street communty-WSK expanded beyond Thursday
meals to provide Sunday breakfasts at St Cla￿'S Day Centre and sit4own meals at
Sl Matthew's Church.
The COVID-19 PivoL. V¥hen the world stOPFed. WSK stepped up. The team
delivered food and essentials to 90 clients daily, a pericrfl of intense ser¥llce that laid
the groundwork for the permanent WSK Hub & Cafe.
From Parcels to Pantries: What tegan as a 2019 request for for*J parce15 evolved
into a full-scale food bank and. most recenty, our 2024 transition to a food pantry.
This model empowers our clients while ensuring long-temi food secuttty.
Sustainability & Growth: Since becomin9 a registered chartty in September 2020,
we have opened our charity shop. vthich direcuy fvnds the pantry's operations,
ensuring that WSK remains a permanent fixture in the fight against food poverty.
Beyond a Meal: Empowernient
Today, the WSK Hub is rTh)re than just a place for an evening meal.. it is a space for training
and employment. By offering opportunities to both volunteers and dients. Khristina and her
team are helping iTrJividuals transition from crisis to slability-

Keith Sunderland
worked as a sales rep for GlaxoSmtthKline for 33
years, and on ￿lI￿ng, he *rved as a local councillor
for 8 years. becoming leader of ihe opposrtion for the
last two years.
He is a member of the Lib Dems.
He was a street pastor and ended up as coordinator.
He is on the leadership of the church he attends.
He is currentty chairperson for Wothing Soup Kitchen.
Arron Burns
¥on Bums has w￿ked in housing and social care for
the last 28 years.
Aaron began his piofessional career wilh the Royal
National Institute for Deaf People as a residential social
worker and interpreter for deaflblind people.
Aaron then spent a number of years managing
supported accommodation for young homeless people
in the West Country.
For the last 20 years Aaron had worked for Brighton &
Hove Cty Council in various capacities. He is currentty
the interim director of Housing People setv1￿-
Temporary & Supported Accommodation.
Aaron's interests include theatre, the arts, ￿adIng and
his dogs.

John Bishop
John is a local and was a sales rep in the food industry,
ending up as a sales manager.
He seNed 7 years as a C1￿Ult Steward in the
Methc*Jist Church, and it was through Ihe church that
he got invofved with helping the honEless and needy.
He is an advocate fw the work and has been a
conduit for donations to the Worthing Soup Kitchen's
Food Hub and Charity Shop.
Allan Hedley
Jlan's career was in the phamiaceutical industy.
beginning in a research laboratory before moving to
rtemational sales. where Ibved in Zambia, Lebanon
and Oubai befo￿ mowng to Gennany and later to the
UK markot.
After retiring. Albn worked with Samaritsns before
becoming an advisor at Citizens Adwce. After a brief
pefiod of relaxation. he accepted an invrlation to
become a trustee of Wlorthing Soup Ktlchen.

The Trustees have the pleasure of Fxesenting their annual report and ￿)Unts for the year
ending 3151 December 2025.
1. Objectives and aclivities -
The primary obiectives of the CIO are:
al To aid in the prevention or rdief of peoples who are homeless. at risk of homelessne55 or
recovering frorn hoMeleSsr￿ss in Sussex. This is done by liaising c105ely with other
homelessness agencies to help Fyovide long4emi housing solutions to those affected.
b) To relieve the charitable needs of people who are homeless. at risk of homelessness or
recovering frorn hornelessness in Sussex by working with such people and others tr) provide
or assist in the provisw)n of foc*J iteThB. support, advi￿ and signposting services.
c) To Wofk with those vtho are in food povety arKI poverty to alleviate hunger and poverty.
We do thi$ by running our fc(*J panty for all in reed to a¢cess it.

S. Revlew of Actlvlties
On the following pages we have ouuined the impact that we have had in 2025. We have had
o meetings in 2025.
There have been a number of contacts by phone and email to keep in touch.
The main concem ofthe Trustees has been to keep the charity in line wth its mission lo help
the homeless and Ihe needy.
We have had to initiate charity shops. one ofwhth incorwrates the Foodbank. As fund
raising vehicles these have been exiremety useful and in an environment in which grants a
becoming more difficult to obtain. desprte sterfing V￿rk by Khristina Mccormack, very
necess8ry to the charity'5 work.
We are pleased that we have been akAe to meet the increased need for our seNices bul the
management of all the drfferent enlerprises is a strain especially on our CEO who has to
juggle too much.
We are going to be sts￿ng a venture with Rotary Lodge which will eam money. but also
provide training so that we can further rehabilitate soffe of our clients. This is the sort of
venture that is a Useful addition to our provision in that tt helps the dients and has the ability
to raise money at the same time.
The finding of more reliable volunteers to gpie a bit mre flexibilty i8 possibly our most
pressing tssk as we Cannot afford to overwork our staff and volunteers.
All in all an encouraging year as OUT income has risen to meet the increasing demand.

January started with the toss of one of our 9￿alty loved clients and volunteer Matt Fisher.
We hired a minibus to take clients to the funeral Servi￿ at Saint Nicholas's Church,
Itchingfield. to say a final farewell. This had been agreed by the family in advan￿ and
albwed ￿th home and street famity time to meet and reminisce about Ma￿$ life and find
some solace and comfort in each other. He remains missed. Gocrflbye Matt. We hope
you are now safe and at pea￿ in your forever home.
Matt Fisher is sadly missed by all who had the pleasure ofknowing him.
On Salurday the 25th of January. V￿ were pleased to be part of the Yhri¥e Fare" organised
by Crew, the Climate Resilience Centre Worthing. This vms an exciting opportunity to
highlight notjust the work of Crew in the local communty but also that of SHOUT WSK and
other local communty groups. We had a stand and handed out leaflets lo inforn members of
the public regarding Ihe work we do to raise awareness.
Our January annual highlight had been organised by our volunteer CO-0￿1n8tor- Lesley
Angus. Lesley had nominated SHOUT WSK for the Albion Nsh. which was sponsored by
Snickersl This led to a surprise visit to our WSK Hublcafe on Tarring Road by Tariq
Lampley and Joel Veltman, much to the delight of volunteers and all who were present. Both
Joel and Tariq came armed with food which they had made earlier under the supervision of
their Albion chef - this wa$ later distributed to our homeless clients during our Wednesday
evening outreach session. Not many people Can say thal Iwo famous footbalkrs have
cooked for Iheffl. but on this occasion SHOUT WSK canl
That was not all of the surprise- Albion also donaled lots of food for the SHOUT WSK Food
Pantry and gave Khristina, our CEO. Iwo complimentary tickets to attend on
matches. Albion recorded their wsrt, and this was broadcast INe at their foo

unintended Consequences of the 8Utumn budget have made f8miers realise Just how much

The Advanced Lrfe Leaming Students at Northbrook College organised a fundraiser by
utilising their baking skills and selling cakes to rak8e funds for SHOUT WSK! I can say the
baked g¢)ods were enjoyed by all.
What a Dayl The 5th ofApril saw SHOUT WSK open their first sole charity shop at 147
Montague Street, Worthing. We never realised what a gem this would be. The public have
been impressed and refer to it as WSK bringing a part of Brighton to Worthing. All we can
say is that we are very gratefvl for the ever-inventive Dawn O'Donnell. who oversaw this
shop's transfomiation in less than a month! Thank you, Dawnl

Our window and shop al 147 Monlague Street and 219 Tarring Road were all set for
Worthing Pride weekend.
The 19th of July saw SHOUT host a massive food drr* at the West DU￿ington Extra
Tesco superstore in Worthing. This event was organised by the one and onty Linda Southey
with husband Dave and. of course, all of the volunteers who hel￿. A big WSK THANK
YOU goes out to Hayley for organising our slot and. of course, all of the wonderful

SHOUT WSK"in recognition and appTeci2tion Of her service. devotion, strong determination
and dedication. along with the volunteers from SHOUT WSK for the invaluable support she
and the charity have provthd lo the people of the t￿rOugh. Emma Taylor-Beale gave
lovety accolade, which was echoed by Councillor Helen Abrahams, at the slart of the council
session. Khristina said, 'This award is exlra Special. as it recognises the hard work which all
of the volunteers put in on a daity basis. Thank you for recognising all of their time and

Vve began talks with Rotary Lodge in Worthing to see rf we could provtde a possib￿ service
for their residents or indeed rf we would be in a posttion to offer what they needed. We
began to explore options to see rfthis would be viable.
We also benefrtted from a donation made by Ferring Baptist Church. Their congregation
gave very generousty as part of their Harvest Festival. A very special mention to Reverend
Robin Brenchley, his wife Marion and the v￿nderful Karen Parsons, whom I know works so
hard behind the scenes making things happen. Thank you for your prayers and support.

The first of November saw us launch Wrap up Worthing. with the R¢)tsry. This is where
coats are donated by the public, which are then handed oul to our clients and
those in need. The boxes stsyed in our Hub for three weeks, giving the Con￿Unty plenty of
opportunty lo donate any unwanted coats.

Our lalest project tegins with Rotary Lodge, an Independent over-55 housing block. We took

2025 CEO Annual Message: A Year of Resilien
and Connection
To our volunteers. supporters. and the communty we se￿￿. Reflecting on 2025, the word
that resonates rrTht with me is conneclion. In a year where the cost of Iprftng continued to
challenge the security of so many. SHOUT IAISK did Nist remain a service provider, we
beca￿￿ a lifeline.
The data in this yearfs report is staggerinfr18,244 volunteer hours donated by people
who believe, as I do, that no one in communty should face hunger or isolatKJn alone. But
behind every hour recorded and every ffeal sep4ed 1$ a human story. It is the story of the
parent who can breathe a sigh of ￿ lief because of our Christmas hampers, the individual
who finds wamth and a friendly face at Saint Clare's on a Sunday rrKJrning. and the
shoppers vtho support our mission at our new Montsgue Street shop.
Christmas 2025 and our aftemth)n tea with Santa event hit a chord wrth all of our volunteers
as a stark reminder of why do our work and even more so as to why our services are
needed now n￿re than ever. I will do ry best to re* the event vthich happened in the
paragraph below.
Upon arrival at our hub. we give all of the chik1ren a letter to wrile to Santa, and on
finished. it is then popped into Santa's postbox for a special delivery. We have seen quite
few requests over the years. from whtte socks for school to something my family and I can
do together, but none htt us as hard as the words written by Iwo litde tsw"n girfs who had not
requested the latest doll, bike or toy but had both vffltten 'foc(I' on their individual letters. This
left our leam deeply upset- wtth a realrty check that hrl hard. They say that from the mouths
of babies comes great truth. This left us with another Christmas mission. A hunt began to
find the famivs address. a$ ¥￿ had handed out inviies to other local help groups. SHOUT
WSK needed to ensure that a hamper wrth k)ts of goodies and grfts for the children arrived in
time for Christmas. We managed to do this rnL￿h to the relEf and delMJht of all of the
volunteers. Not only Ihal, but Dan from Nandos. after hearing what had happened. stepped
in and Provided a beautiful grft that keeps on giving. A voucher that allows the family lo have
fcrt)d whenever they need OT are hungry. It will carry on until "Santa says so" This shows the
connection and communty Cohesion that our chanty has beconE part of and built. It reflects
all of the volunteers and those who stepFed in to assist. Thank you from the bottom of my
heart is all I can say. The children's faces when Ihe grfts and hamper V￿re delivered were
Pr￿lesS, and yes, this is exactly why we will still be here for those In need in our
community. Work which we can onty do with your supporL
Adapting to the Need
This year required us to be nN)re agile than ever. We made the difficult but necessary
decision to trans￿On our food pantry and communty fridge to a 4-day-a-week model. This
move ensured that we could maintain a high-qualty. consistenl supply for t
presenta￿on8 we received this year. including the 220 families who rety on
food on the table for their children.

We also evolved our Christmas tradtbons. Moving our holMJay meal to the WSK
us to create a more personal. "dropin" sanduary. It was an honour to cook for our

community throughout the day. ensuring that even those in temtK)rary acconNYK)dation felt

The opening of our chartty shop in April fforked a milestone for our sustainabilty. and the
launch of our work at Rotary Lodge in November proves that SHOUT WSK 15 always looking
for the nexl place we can do the most good.
I want to extend a pemnal Ihank you. to our m team, our trustees. and every single
volunteer who 'jumped in" when the cafe got busy or the pantry was overwhelmed. You are
the engine of this charity. Whether you were working at the allotment, providing IT supwr(
or driving collections in the rain. your impact is irnmeasurable.
Looking Forward
As we move into 2026, the challenges reman, but so doe$ our resolve. We are not just
feeding people., we are bjilding a communty where everyone is seen. heard, and supported.

A Message from the Heart of WSK
2025 has been a year of significath grthth, resilience. and unwavering communty SPiTit.
From the opening of our new Charity Sh¢)p to the evolution of our Hub and Food Panty,
SHOUT WSK continues to be a lrfeline for those in need. This year. we transitioned our
services to be n￿re agile, ensuring that no ODe-from families wrlh children to those on the
streets-was left behind.
Foeding Community. The Numbgrs
Our cxrtreach PrOgra￿ts remain the comerstone of our mission. provbjing const5tent,
nutrilious meals to the rrDst vulnerable.
Saint Clare's Outreach.. We supported 1.218 homele88 presentation8 and served
1.641 Sunday mornlng breaklasts.
WSK Hub Mid-week Meals: Provided a minimum of 1.300 individual meals on
Wednesday evenings. offering consistent nourishrr￿nI and a welcoming space.
Christmas Day: We shifted our locus to a nKJre intimate'Dropin" style at the WSK
Hub. Led by our volunteer fina, we provided a wami Christmas meal and $ancluary
for the homeless arKI those in temporary aco)mmodatts)n throughout the day.
Food Socurlty & Tho Communlty Frldge
The demand for fcxyj security surged in 2025. To manage resources effective￿. we
transitioned to a 4-day-a-week rncmjel lo ensure our shelve5 remained stocked for those who
need them most.
Total Presentations: 5.997 visits to our Food Pantrylcommunty Fridge.
Impact on Families: We provided essents'al groceries to 220 famlllos with children,
ensuring the next generalion is supported.
Charity Shop Expansion: Our new h)cation at 147 Montague Strèet {opened April
2025) has becofne a vrtal hub for furKling and communty engagement.
