Also the provision of support or signposting to relevant information and other advisory services and to provide such services with a Christian Elhos which is supported by churches in Blaenau Gwent. We operate presently a FocKlbank kla Blaenau Gwent Foodbank operating from 2 Food Distribution CentlES in Beaufort and Brynmawr. This due to previous Covid restrictions has been a home delivery service only and so our centres have been closed to the public for collection of food. We deliver to the whole of the County of Blaenau Gwent. We issue food, toiletries and household items. Also we have the facility to offer GasElectric vouchers for families in need Ihrough a partnership wilh the Fuelbank Foundation. For those clients that are struggling to top-up their Mobile phones we are able to offer a SIM card free of charge for 8 6mth period through our partnership via Trussell Trust with Tesco Mobile. Our clients are referred to us via relative agencies that work with them as they must have a Foodbank voucher presented. Summary of the maln actlvltles undertaken for the publlc benefit In relatlon to these objects (include within this section the statutory daclaratlon that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by tha Charity Commission on publlc benefft) Through our Foodbank operation we rnake this statutory declaration that the Trustees have regarded the guidan issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit as it's a clear case of the Foodbank helping the general public whose families are in crisis. Section D Achievements and performance Summary ofthe maln achlevements of the charlty during the year During 2022 we have achieved the followng: We have helped 1943 families with food This comprises 2863 Adults and 1565 Children Total 4428 people This is an approximate total of 39852 meals placed on families tables Our total stock of foodltoiletries an(1 other items collected as donations total approximately 39.0 Ions of which 23 tons of food have come through the SupeTharkets - Asda, Tasco {2 store) and Waitrosè The Monetary donations we receive help us to purchase food that we are short of and this year it arUnted to purchase 7 tons of food The amount of foc#J we distributed to the various families in crisis in Blaenau Gwent amounted lo 38.9 tons
Section E Financial review Brief statement of the charity's pollcy on reserves We are in the process of WOTking on a policy on reserves which we are still calculating due to Ihe effects of Covid and the Cost of Living and the need to purchase items to keep our stock on a goc*J level. We have been wotking on a ReseNe of approximately £15K just to ensure we keep going through this Cost of Living period where donations are dipping. We do get funds via Tesco stores that top up in hard cash any food collected through them by 20 /0 and also we have funding via Asda on a similar way, however thi5 is restricted funding for operational costs only. We have purchased food when stocks have decreased out of funding we receive and the costs of delivery and running of the charity have come out of restricted funding via Supemiarkets. I report to the trustees of Blaenau Gwent Community Aid on the accounts for the year ended 31st December 2022.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act").
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent Examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in any material aspect:-
(1) the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act or (2) the accounts did not accord with the accounting records or
(3) the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a "true and fair" view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
