Annual Report of the Trustees for the Year Ending 31 December 2024

1. Introduction

The trustees of Link Angola Northeast (L.A.N.E.) are pleased to present their second annual report for the financial year ending 31 December 2024. This report provides an update on the organisation’s charitable activities, governance, and future plans, in accordance with the Charities Act 2011. L.A.N.E. exists to promote the relief of poverty and hardship among vulnerable individuals, families, and communities in Angola through the provision of essential goods, education, and community support.

2. Overview of Activities

During 2024, L.A.N.E. continued to focus on supporting disadvantaged communities in Bie Province, Angola, particularly within the municipality of Andulo. In January 2024, Mr. Andajev Gonçalvez Da Cruz, the Chairperson, travelled to assess community needs and plan forthcoming distributions of aid. Donations—comprising clothing, toys, and canned food—were sourced from local institutions and individuals in the UK. L.A.N.E. remains dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and adults in Angola through the distribution of essential goods and educational materials.

3. Governance and Management

An Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on 14 October 2024. Elections were held to appoint a new Board of Trustees: Chairperson: Mr. Célio Vasconcelo; Vice Chairperson: Mr. Andajev Gonçalvez Da Cruz; Treasurer: Mr. Jesus Mota; General Secretary: Mr. Augusto Costa; Trustee: Ms. Tania Cardoso. The trustees thank all volunteers and supporters for their contributions.

4. Planned Visit and Donations (November 2024)

The Chairperson, Mr. Célio Vasconcelo, and Vice Chairperson, Mr. Andajev Da Cruz, travelled to Andulo, Bie Province, on 18 November 2024. The purpose of the visit was to oversee the distribution of a large donation of children’s and adults’ clothing, toys, and non-perishable food. Both trustees personally funded their travel expenses, as L.A.N.E. has not yet received external monetary support.

5. Financial Review

During the financial year ending 31 December 2024, L.A.N.E. did not receive any financial contributions or grants. The charity’s total income and expenditure remain nil, and no tax liability arises for this period.

6. Future Plans (2025 and Beyond)

In 2025, L.A.N.E. aims to expand its educational and vocational initiatives in Andulo, including pastry and bakery training, locksmith and mechanical skills, and sewing workshops. These programmes will empower adults with practical skills for self-reliance and employment. A detailed plan will be included in the next annual report following a community needs assessment.

7. Beneficiary and Partner Organisation Criteria

Beneficiaries: Children under 16 referred by partner organisations will be eligible for clothing and educational materials. Young people aged 16–25 may receive similar support. Participants under 25 may also join L.A.N.E.’s Digital Cultural Exchange Programme. Partner Organisations must provide: Proof of registration, safeguarding policies, staff suitability checks, monitoring procedures, and commitment to reporting on beneficiary outcomes.
