**Protection of wildlife through daily monitoring, patrol and snare collection across the protected habitat.**

The trustees have read the guidance on public benefit issued by the charities commission. You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about:

- policy on grantmaking;

- policy programme related investment;

- contribution made by volunteers.

We have a grant application procedure and document.The projects and initiatives that will be supported are based on criteria that support the CIO’s charitable objectives. For example, they must be:

- operating within or part of the community surrounding community wildlife conservancies

- minimizing negative environmental impact and promoting preservation of wildlife and sustainable land use.

- meeting our ideals of sustainable community development through education, training and micro financing with encouragement given to projects that act to empower women and girls.

When making grants to organisations the CIO will make restricted grants only for activities, services or outcomes that will further its charity’s purposes for the public benefit. Where core costs are being funded, they will be limited to those specified activities, services or outcomes. When making grants to individuals any private benefit will be incidental to the charitable purposes.

The CIO will receive feedback on how the funds have been applied and this will be reported to donors within 12 months of the grant payment.

Section D                      Achievements and performance

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

Having registered the charity and opened the bank account the year 15[th] August 2021 – 14[th] August 2022 was spent solidifying our procedures with grants and fundraising to make them possible. We now have a grant proposal form and issuing procedure which we have put into use.

Our fundraising efforts brought in just under 10,000 GBP by the year end and we had laid good foundations to increase this amount at the beginning of the next financial year. We had also agreed the first grant recipients of the funds raised and they were transferred at the beginning of the next financial year.

During this year, we continued protection of the habitat in Tanzania and in Kenya – total of 10,000 acres through conservation land lease and ranger patrols.

We assisted with school fees through bursaries where possible, school improvements with rainwater catchment systems and reduced human wildlife conflict through upkeeping predator proof cattle enclosures in Mara North Conservancy.

We continued to assist a ranger team collecting snares on the escarpment north of the Serengeti NP.

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

The charities policy on reserves was discussed and agreed at our board meeting, June 2022. We will maintain an amount within the charity account to be utilized as and when an unexpected grant requirement arises. As we are still growing a regular donor base this amount is not set in stone at this time but rather will grow with our efforts in the next financial year.
