To promote the preservation, conservation and protection of East Africa's wildlife and natural heritage, and to advance, for the benefit of the public, education in the principles and practices of conservation.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO ("The Objects") Are To Promote, For The Benefit Of The Public, The Preservation, Conservation And Protection Of East Africa's Wildlife And Natural Heritage And To Advance, For The Benefit Of The Public, Education In The Principles And Practices Of Conservation, Particularly, But Not Exclusively By -1) Conserving Populations Of Endangered Species, And The Environment On Which They Depend;2) Promoting For The Public Benefit Effective Management Of Habitats Populated By Endangered Species, And Ensuring The Sustainability Of Such Populations In The Context Of The Other Uses To Which Such Habitats Are Put;3) Establishing And Promoting The Application Of A Broad Set Of Principles Standards And Criteria Designed To Ensure That Such Other Uses Do Not Have An Adverse Impact On Fulfilling The Objective Of Conserving Wildlife Habitats;4) Highlighting The Ecosystem Value Of Nature And Wildlands To Humanity, And Encouraging Enhanced And Targeted Investment, Both Public And Private, To Stimulate Protection And Conservation;5) Catalysing, Supporting And Helping Initiatives That Enhance Wildlife Conservation And Community Support, Including Nature Conservancies, Waste And Water Management, Trade Cooperatives, Local Employment, Fair Wages And Local Enterprises And Services;6) Advising, Planning And Training Governments, Park Authorities, Ngo's And Tourism Services In The Integration Of Nature Tourism With Conservation Efforts;7) Educating The Public On Environmental Issues Including Biodiversity, Conservation, Sustainability, And Management Of The Wildlife Parks, Reserves And Protected Conservation Areas Of East Africa And The Wildlife Within Them,8) Advocating And Supporting Better Tourism Practices In Wilderness Areas To Protect And Preserve Habitats And Wildlife;9) Empowering Local Communities To Become Involved In Livelihood Options Through Wildlife Tourism Projects And By Initiating Low Impact And Sustainable Development Which Helps Conserve Wildlife Parks And Benefits The Local Communities Through Employment And Business Opportunities;nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The CIO For The Purposes Which Are Not Charitable.
