ACHIEvEmE￿rS AND PERFORMANCE
The Gwent Baptist Association has werienced a year marked by signtficant developments. The chief of
these is the overhaul of the way in which the Baptist Union of Wales A5yxiation structure is organised -
with Gwent's model as a CIO being adopted across Wales. This ha5 brought a renewed enthusiasm and
focus on the missional agenda of Association life, and the past year has seen a deliberate focus on this
asFert of our work. Moving forward, we will look to see how creattvely and imaginatively we might embed
a missional strategy into Association life and to this end have LEgun to prayerfvlly consider the
appointsnent of a Missional Strategist.
The ongoing collabor7tive work within the Assc(iation (facllitating children s and youth work in particular)
has been especially encouraging. The annual Holiday Bible Clubs (held in many Association churches)
have been a wonderful time of community engagement and missional outreach facilitated in great
measure by our wonderful relationship with South Korean American workers from Churches in the United
States of America and facilitAted by the Rev Peter Cho from Tabernacle Baptist Church, Newbridge.
We have also continued to see our monthly youth fttussed wort Yhe Gathering, develop and grow as,
month by month, young people gather tc4Jether from across AS￿latiOn churches for food and fellowship
at Bethesda Baptist Church, Rogerstone under the leadership of Rev rim Moody and Mrs Helen Jones.
Regular meetings of the Ministers Space, a time of fellowship and mutual support and encouragement for
Association ministers (facilitated by Rev Fuchard Miles), have continued to be highly valued appreciated.
••
The Association has continued to provide subslantial prayerful and financial grant support to its churches,
addressing challenges posed by the ongoing C05t-of-Living Crisis, dedining numbers and other associated
issues. To this end the Superintendency team has continued to develop meaningful and closer working
relationships with Association Churches and we are indebted to Rev Suzanne Roberts, Rev Huw Stevens,
Rev Sue Phillips and Rev Richard Miles for their work in this regard.
We have continued to provide suptK)rt for Churche5 where and when necessary, including continuing to
help facilitate Bible Study groups, Ladies feilowships and Sunday ministry.
