The attivities of the charity Can be divided into lour principal areas.. the administration of the 5acrhmen¢s and
mainten£ncÈ of Divine Services, the educaiion of youn8 people io accordance with the Roman CdthDlic laith, pèstoral
work in propagation ol ¢he Rornan Catholic failh and charitable work in connection w.th any of the lore80in6 activitie5.
Each of these is briefly considered in turn below.
• Admlnlstratlon of the Sa(rament5 ar￿ rnainien#n¢e of Do￿tte Servi
In each parish. the EJcrydris¢. wniih ollrail5 a lor8e number Op worshipper5. 15 celebrated both on Sundays and
weekday5 Corfession5 are heard re8ularfy and baptlsms, ¢ontirm3tions. weadipgs and funerals are celebrated
when requested by parishioners.
• Educaison
There are parish schools lor infant5 and juniors ot Abergèvenny ènd Whitehaven, which educate 8 4ts,b%tantial
nurnber of non-C*?tholic 05 well as Cèiholic Children. The school land and buildin8$ at Aber83venny belong to
the Mission Trust, wh.le at Wh"'tehaven '.he sthool dinin8 hall and kitchen are loaned by the charity to the
Diocese of Lancasrcr. The cler8y act as thaplains to ¢he schools.
• Pa51oral work
In addilion to the dèily services. the cler8y visir the sick and aged in their homes. A good deal ol catcchetital
work 15 done wih ihe help of volunieers and rhere are a nurnbei of aaive 8roup5 in the pari5he5 that meet Dn
weekly basis. for exaw,ple Bible slud¥ and choir groups.

by deacons. In all five parishe5, an enthusiastic group of lay people assist In every aspect of pastoral work and In the

The parish priests, as Benedictine monks and member5 01 the Belmont Abbey community. live a life ol prayer, work and
studyi bound by the traditional Benedictine vows of •bed￿nCe. stability and Conversion ot life. Be'mont forrns part of
the En81i5h Benedictine Congregati￿, which Iri ¢urn is part of the worldwidc 8encdirtine Confederation. It5 Mission
