WANSTEAD YOUTH CLUB REPORT – JANUARY 2021 JULY 2021
Introduction
The Wanstead Youth Club was formed in February 2018 under the guidance of Essex Boys and Girls Clubs as the result of 3-year funding from the Youth Investment Fund. The club is an allinclusive club for ages 10 - 25 and meets on a Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Wanstead Youth Centre, Elmcroft Avenue in Wanstead, East London.
Following the end of the YIF funding, on 9[th] September 2020 the Wanstead Youth Club was entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1191210. The club is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and is regularised by a board of 4 trustees.
There is a lack of provision within the London Borough of Redbridge therefore it is vital for the young people to have a regular place to attend and take part in a variety of activities. Wanstead Youth Club has on offer: sports, cooking, arts and crafts, gardening and music as well as going on day trips to do adventurous activities and to visit zoo’s and other places of interest and learning valuable life skills building self-esteem and confidence.

2020 was devastated by the Corona 19 Virus and has restricted the opening of the club however the club had a successful Christmas party in December 2020 and was finally given the green light to reopen on 28 April 2021. we were restricted to the use of the sports hall owing to the main hall being used as a covid vaccination centre. The club remained open until the Summer holidays commenced in mid-July.
