- (a) to support the advancement of Unitarian and Free Christian beliefs in accordance with the principles of Unitarianism as defined in the constitution of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches; and

- (b) to benefit the residents of Whitby and the surrounding area by associating with them, local authorities and voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance the residents’ education and social welfare and providing facilities for recreation and leisure time occupation; and 

- (c) the preservation and maintenance of Flowergate Old Chapel for the benefit of the inhabitants of Whitby and the general public including use for the prevention and relief of poverty and the provision of training and work space.

During this period, Revd Kirk<br>provided ministry to members of the congregation and the wider<br>community.<br>•<br>An unsuccessful Expression of Interest to the Heritage Lottery<br>Fund was submitted at the end of February 2021 for the<br>restoration and re-configuring of the building to enable an<br>Innovation Hub to be created.<br>•<br>Consultation with the local authority has been ongoing,<br>particularly in relation to the preparation of a bid to the Towns<br>Fund to secure funding for the restoration and re-configuring of<br>the building for the purpose of relieving poverty and providing<br>training and work space. To this end, the trustees have worked<br>closely with a consultancy company to provide a project brief to<br>enable an Innovation Hub to be created within the building.<br>•<br>The trustees agreed to extend the objects (see [c] above). The<br>additional object was approved at a General Meeting held on 31<br>March 2021 and subsequently approved by the Charity<br>Commission. The members will be asked to adopt the additional<br>object at the AGM in September 2021.<br>•<br>At the General Meeting held on 31 March two new trustees and a<br>secretary and treasurer were elected.|

||During the period between the establishment of the FOC CIO on 4<br>September 2020 and 5 April 2021, the trustees met regularly to develop<br>the Innovation Hub project and prepare a Towns Fund bid.|



## **Section E                    Financial review** 

**Brief statement of the** FOC CIO has very limited financial resources and the charity’s long term **charity’s policy on reserves** financial situation remains unclear. At present we have no policy on reserves but expect that position to change when planned future development occurs. Currently it’s our intention to maintain sufficient unrestricted funds to meet the day-to-day costs of maintaining Flowergate Old Chapel. **Details of any funds materially** No funds in deficit. **in deficit**
