Report of the Trustees for the period 4 September 2020 to 31 March 2021
The Friends of the John Fisher School Chapel (“Friends”) was established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 4[th] September 2020 as a successor to an entity with the same name which had formed part of the Golden Jubilee Appeal Fund of The John Fisher School. This fund ceased to be a registered charity at the end of 2019 and this gave rise to the creation of the new entity. The accounting date for the Friends is 31 March and thus the initial financial report covers the period 4[th] September 2020 to 31[st] March 2021.
The object of the new charity is to advance the education of the pupils at The John Fisher School by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities particularly the chapel at The John Fisher School.
The founding directors of the Friends, who were trustees of the former charity, are listed of page 1 of the Financial Statements. The cash balances of the previous entity were transferred, as donations, to the Friends on the date of its formation.
During the period, the trustees made an award of £10,000 to The John Fisher School to fund various educational projects. These were:
Student Laptops - £4,000 Google Classrooms - £1,000 Wellbeing training for student ambassadors - £1,000 Safeguarding & Mental Health First Aid Training for staff - £1,000 “And Beyond” discussion sessions with student groups on whole world ideas to improve society - £750 Jack Petchey speak out challenge - £500 First Give Donation: £1,500 Miscellaneous education costs - £250
