TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT FOR SWEET PEA BOWLING CLUB CLUB CHARITY NUMBER 1191154 – 01/11/22 TO 31/10/2023
Although several months late on the agreed programme we finally got occupation of our new Pavilion in October 2023. Even then there were several important snagging items to complete which took several weeks. But at last, we could meet in the Pavilion and make plans for our next season. The new lease was all signed by the parties concerned and we have got a lease for 35 years at a peppercorn rent. This ensures the survival of Sweet Pea Bowling Club.
Our main challenge has been to try and find new members which will take several months. We collected subscriptions from mainly existing members totalling £1,905 which is £765 up on last year. But we couldn’t play any home games last season so played them all away which meant we couldn’t make any profits on the bar or meals and raffles. We still had ongoing expenses of green and machinery maintenance amounting to £3,641.93. Insurance has continued to be paid at a reduced rate of £696.48 and the new rate for our new pavilion will be £790.85. We have spent £1,060.08 on miscellaneous items for the new Pavilion like tables and kitchen and toilet accessories. We had the normal capitation fees to be paid to Bowls Leicestershire and Bowls England of £388. At the 31/10/23 there was a balance of £6,863.12 at the bank and £246.70 in cash totalling £7,109.82. Although we face future costs, we will have income generated from being able to function as a Bowling Club.
We are looking forward to preparing and enjoying a new season of Bowling on our own green and in our own Pavilion. We plan to recruit 10 or more new members. We will be considering whether to increase our subscriptions but need to retain and attract new members.
