**Trustees’ annual report**

**For the year ending 31 August 2022**

## **Objectives of the Charity**

The objects of Malik and Mehboob Welfare CIO are in the United Kingdom and throughout the world specifically restricted to:

- (1) The relief of financial need and suffering among victims of natural or other kinds of disaster in the form of money (or other means deemed suitable) for persons, bodies, organisations and/or countries affected.

- (2) The prevention or relief of poverty by providing: grants to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.

- (3) The relief of sickness and the preservation of health among people by providing grants to charities or other organisations which further this purpose for the public benefit.

## **Mission Statement**

Malik and Mehboob Welfare is an international charitable organisation. Driven by a single goal: doing its part in making a better place for all. Its decision-making process is informed by comprehensive empirical studies and high-quality data evaluation. Having a positive impact with all of its pursuits. Malik and Mehboob Welfare conducts a plethora of projects ranging from Humanitarian Aid, Medical Aid, Development Aid, Community Development, Youth Empowerment and Female Empowerment.

## **Activities**

As was illustrated in the previous annual report, the UK and countries worldwide had a very difficult post-pandemic period. This was something that immensely affected everyone who helps out at Malik and Mehboob Welfare and for that reason as to why the amount raised via donations has significantly decreased. For that reason the trustees are regularly monitoring the impact of the crisis on our work and are working at our utmost best to support our grantees during the crisis and understand its profound implications. We have continued our core work and focus areas. Moreover, helping the beneficiaries adapt to the new realities and safeguard key capacity.

The main focus has been on providing immediate/imminent relief in several regions worldwide. We have played a leading role in several initiatives, for instance:

• Humanitarian and disaster relief- Taking proactive actions in relieving the needs of those who are socially and economically disadvantaged or whose lives have been impacted or affected by poverty, illness or civil conflict. Additionally, Relief programmes inclusive of emergency response, long-term feeding, shelter etc.

• Development aid- To support the economic, environmental, and social development of areas in need selected by our organisation. Initial steps were put in place so that this area could be covered in the future plan of action in the coming years.

## **How we work**

The charity delivers its charitable aims in two ways:

- through direct delivery especially in relation to work in the UK and overseas in areas where we have our own staff; and

- through grant making, chiefly using our partner organisations.

Work carried out by the partner organisations is especially useful where the organisation has no established infrastructure for managing staff and operations or where it provides a more economic approach than using our own staff. Using both partner organisations and our own local staff helps utilise local knowledge effectively and assists in our educational work.

We decide on where we work, taking into account the following factors:

- World bank data on relative levels of poverty for countries across the world

- Incidence of natural disasters and patterns of adverse weather

- Honouring our existing commitments to prevent or relieve poverty

- Information from partners about areas not well served by other NGOs and international support where our input would be needed

- Availability of local partners with their willingness and capabilities to work with us

- • The degree of stability, safety and security in the area of operation

## **Plans for the year ahead**

We intend to focus in the year ahead on more long-terms sustainable programmes, that we can conduct alongside the immediate short term relief programmes that are needed.

## **Declaration**
