as a whole. Wales. The aim of this campaign was
to see Wales’s schools delivering
educational content which would
combat taboos and better support
those experiencing menstrual health
problems. Given that Wales’s
population is 52% female, and that
around one quarter of those will
experience a ‘menstrual health
irregularity’ (or condition), this
remains a priority to our beneficiaries
and future generations.
The campaign has been successful,
with Menstrual Wellbeing Education
becoming a core part of compulsory
Relationships and Sexuality Education
(RSE). Menstrual wellbeing education
now features throughout the ‘What
Matters Statements’ which
guide schools and local authorities in
designing their curricula.
Our second campaign, ‘Make
Women’s Health a Priority for Wales’
was launched in the run-up to the
Senedd Elections, taking place in May
2021. In October and November
2020, FTWW ran a series of focus
groups with members to establish
their priorities and needs and to have
their input into a Manifesto calling for
women’s health to be made a priority
for candidates and future elected
representatives.
As a result of this campaign, the
newly convened Senedd Health and
Social Care Committee has now made
women’s health a priority for its 5-
year term. The Committee has been

a series of focus groups to hear their experiences and identify next steps. Improvements made to health services in Wales as a consequence of this work will result in better patient outcomes for thousands of people throughout Wales.
