Aims and Obje¢tives
The official charitsble aim and purpose of St Catherine's, as part of the Church of England is..
"to promote in the ecclesiastical parish. the ￿ole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic,
social and ecumenical.
Sunday Worship
Sunday worship starts from 10 00am lead Members of the church continue to lead the 10am Songs
of Praise, choosing the songs, the reading and the theme. This has brought more variety and fresh
perspectives to our worship, and has demonstrated that a number of the folk al St Cather￿ne'S have
skills at leading worship.
Over all, Sunday worship at St Catherinè's has a bright and fn"endty feel to it which is good for both
r￿Ul2r8 and visitors. I look forward lo more people tsking up the invitation to lead Song5 of Praise
in the coming year

PCC {Parochial Church Council)
This year the PCC has met every month except August All the facilibes in the church are now futy
functional and we are able lo do a lot more ath"vrtes in the church.
L(xJking ahead,the PCC is still comitted in the rebuild of the chur¢h hall. As one will expect COWD
have affected the plans for the project
We remain comrtted in our efforts towards gett]"ng the necessary funds to stsrt the building. To help
with fundraising for the rebuild, the trustees ag￿ed lo engage the ServI￿S of a professional
fundraiser.
Financial Review
For the year ended 31 D￿￿Mber. the trustees (xjnsider the financial position of the charity lo be in
line expectations
Reserves Policy
The Trustees have considered the level of reserves they wsh to retain appropriate to the charity's
needs. This is based on the charity's syze and the level of commrtments held. The Trustees aim to
ensure the charity will be able to continue lo fuffil their charitable objecfves
Risk Review
The trustees conduct periodic reviews of the major risks to which the charity is exposed and
systems and procedures to manage those risks ￿entified are implemented so as to minimise any
potential impact on the charty should any of those risks materialise.

Law applicable to charities in England and Wales require the trustees to prepare financial
statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity's financial activities
during the year and of its financial position al the end of the year. In preparing those financial

consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charitie5 Act 2011 1"the

Our examination was carried out in accordance wth Genera Directions given by the Charity
Commission. An Examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a
comparison of the accounts prepa￿d with those records. It also includes wnsideralion of any
unusual Items or disdosufes in the a￿unts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees
conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that
would be required in an audit and consequenly no opinion is given as to whether the aecounls
present a 'true and fairf view and the report is limrted to those matters sel out in the statement
below.
In the course of our examination. no matter has come to our attention

Accounting pollcles
1.1 Basls ofpreporntion
The accounts have been prepared on the accruals basis. under the historical cost convention. and in
accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard 102. (effective 1st January 20161 and 'FRS 102 SORP
(Statement of Recommended Prattice for Accounting and Reportirig by Charttiesl 2015, las amended by the
Bulletin issued in February 20161, lThe SORPI. published by the Charity Cornmi5sion in En6land & Wales ICCEWI
effective January 2016. and in accordan￿ wwth all applicable law in the charity's jurisdiction of registration,
except that the charity ha5 prepared the ftnancial statements in accordance with the FRS 102 SORP (Statement
of Recommended Practice for Accounting and Reporting by Charities) 2015. la5 amended by the 8ulletin iSSLJed
in February 20161, (The SORPI. in preference to thÈ pr￿Qu5 SORP. the SORP 21XJ5. which ha5 been withdrawn,
notwithstanding the fact that the extant statutory regulations. the Charities (Accounts and Reports)
Regulations 2CQ8 refer explicitly to the SORP 2￿5. This has been done to accord with current best practice.
There has been no change to the accounting policies Ivaluation rules and methods of accountingl Since last
year.

In accordance with the SORP. and in recognition of the difficultte5 in placing a monetary walue on the
contribution from volunteers. the contribution of volunteers is not included within the income of the
charity.
However, the trustees value the si8nificant Contrib￿lon made to the artivities of the charity by unpaid
volunteers.
