I report on the accounts of the Lions Club of Huddersfield for the year ended 30[th] June 2025, which are set out below and in the attached PDF entitled ‘Accounts 2024-2025 using CC16a_-_revisions_190417 - Lions Club of Huddersfield CIO’.
## **Responsibilities and Basis of Report**
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act'). You consider that the audit requirement of section 144(2) of the Act does not apply and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Act;
- follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b));
- and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Independent Examiner’s Statement**
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect:
- accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
- the accounts do not accord with those records; or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **1. Reference and Administrative Details**

## **2. Structure, Governance and Management**
Lions Club of Huddersfield is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by its constitution.
Trustees are appointed in accordance with the constitution and serve on a voluntary basis. Day-to-day decisions are made by the membership including the trustees.
## **3. Objectives and Activities**
The Club’s objective is to serve the community of Huddersfield and surrounding areas
through volunteer-led charitable activity. This includes organising events, supporting local causes, and raising awareness of needs in the community.
Our main public benefit is promoting the welfare of individuals and groups by addressing issues such as health, isolation, and education through practical and financial support.
## **4. Achievements and Performance**
Key achievements in the year included:
1. Donations to Cancer Research and to a local Trampolinist
2. PSA Blood testing of 64 local men (3 amber and 2 red warnings)
3. Collecting used spectacles for international redistribution
4. Distributing Xmas and Easter hampers to local schools to raise funds
5. Organising the Brighouse Brass Band Contest, one of the largest in the UK
6. Hosting 2 Exchange Students from Serbia and Hungary
7. Collecting aluminium cans for recycling to raise funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
## **5. Financial Review**
The charity remains financially sound, with income from donations, fundraising events, and member contributions.
A prudent approach is taken to managing reserves. Funds are used efficiently in accordance with the Club’s objectives.

## **6. Funds Held and Investment Policy**
The Lions Club of Huddersfield CIO holds funds in two community charity bank accounts. No investment activities were undertaken in the year.
## **7. Plans for Future Periods**
Plans include:
1. Increasing visibility to attract new members and volunteers
2. Enhancing our digital presence
3. Continuing support for local families, schools and international causes through targeted donations
4. Organising the 25[th] Anniversary Brass Band Contest and delivering a surplus
5. Continue our work collecting cans for recycling to support guide dogs, and collecting spectacles to give the gift of sight to people in developing countries
