1) To promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, including biodiversity, of Bradlaugh Fields, Northampton in particular but not exclusively by: a) carrying out work to protect, care for and manage or assist in managing the site as a habitat for flora and fauna and as a wild area. b) involving the wider public in activities such as working parties, wildlife events, path maintenance, litter picking and other events in accordance with the objects or other events acceptable to the site owners with their permission and in accordance with the objects. c) developing Bradlaugh Fields and Barn as a local education centre in accordance with the objects, either alone or in co-operation with the local authorities and other persons or bodies. 2) To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Northampton and the surrounding area the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants, in particular by supporting, developing, improving and protecting Bradlaugh Fields and Barn, Northampton. In accordance with the Bradlaugh Fields and Barn constitution objectives the trustees have carried out the following activities during 2020, 2021, 2022. **Green Flag Application 2020** In applying for the Green Flag award which we were awarded in 2020 this fitted in with plans to continue to promote conservation, protection, and improvement of the physical and natural environment, including biodiversity. We have ensured the park appeals to the local community, is a welcoming space and standards of maintenance are in line with protecting the natural environment, and encouraging wildlife. Working in collaboration with the West Northamptonshire Council Park Rangers, Idverde and Friends of Bradlaugh Fields and Barn.  Green Flag status has been retained in 2022 thanks to the efforts of everyone involved in this crucial status award. Despite Covid-19 we have increased community engagement within the wildlife park with growing numbers of volunteers joining maintenance projects to help support and preserve the habitat, and improve the park’s environment for the community focusing on conservation projects. This is mirrored with high engagement rates including volunteers working in the café

and general volunteering. 

In addition, there has been an opening up of primary age school parties visiting the outdoor school learning and play area, specifically Forest School projects, in collaboration with the local council park ranger. 

Through a strong focus on social media, particularly Facebook we have grown the Bradlaugh page audience and there are now over 3,600 members, this is the main social media engagement area. We ran a successful Wildlife Trust “Go wild in 30 days” in June 2020 and June 2021 encouraging members to become involved with nature and enhance their well-being. We also ensure there are regular posts on twitter and the Bradlaugh instagram pages. In addition, a new modern website was created in 2019, improving visitor numbers and enhancing the Bradlaugh image.

The collaboration of the “Friends of Bradlaugh” committee, West Northamptonshire Council Park Rangers, Idverde and a group of volunteers supporting the green space are the backbone of Bradlaugh and it is the collaboration of these groups, and the efforts and the passion of all the volunteers which makes Bradlaugh a success, without the volunteers it would be a poorer place and their support is extremely valued by the trustees and everyone involved.

Cash at bank at 31/12/2022 £6,436.00. These are funds from the barn **Brief statement of the** café takings and events. All monies are spent back within the park **charity’s policy on reserves** outside area and inside the barn. 

Providing a contactless payment option has helped our customers and boosted funds. We are also use grant options to help promote Bradlaugh further and involve and support the local community to help preserve the wildlife park.

## **1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES** 

The financial statements have been prepared under the receipts and payments method of accounting for smaller charities. 

The accounts are consistently prepared using this method. 

## **2. TAXATION** 

The Fields and Barn is a registered charity and is not liable to taxation. 

## **3. ULTIMATE CONTROLLING PARTY** 

The Board is under the control of its trustees, the members of which are listed on page 1 of the Accounts, and are responsible for the day-to-day administration of the affairs of the charity.
